Netflix renews Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for two more seasons. Even before its breakout Halloween premiere, the show was set for a second season, which will arrive in April 2019. The action-packed Chilling Adventures of Sabrina part 2 trailer left fans reeling with anticipation for what's in store for Greendale's favorite witch.

Prior to part two, Netflix released a holiday special, A Midwinter's Tale on Dec. 14. Although Part 1 ended with Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka), seemingly ending ties to her mortal life by signing her name in the Book of The Beast, and breaking up with her boyfriend Harvey, A Midwinter's Tale, clarifies the severity of the severance. Sabrina still attends Greendale High and interacts with Harvey, Roz, and Susie, despite their discomfort since discovering that she's a witch. The special dives deeper into Sabrina's mortal half by bringing her mother Diana into the story, and exploring the fundamentalist and often somewhat bigoted Aunt Zelda's regrets about rebuking her brother's human wife. However, it's still unclear to what extent Ms. Wardwell, aka. Madame Satan (Michelle Gomez) is manipulating Sabrina's every move. What is certain is that Sabrina's battle against the Dark Lord will go far beyond this April's release.

Netflix broke the news of the renewal this morning on Twitter, and naturally, the "Praise Satan" replies have already started rolling in. Between the two new seasons, 16 episodes are planned. Production on seasons 3 and 4 will begin next year; production on season 2 started shortly before season 1 premiered this fall.

Sabrina looks over her shoulder in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Although production is set to begin next year, nothing has been confirmed about when the next seasons are planned for release. But since Netflix often does cyclical seasonal releases, it's possible that part 3 will premiere around Halloween 2019, and part 4 will be coming in spring 2020. In the meantime, fans are patiently waiting for any news about the possibility of a crossover event with Riverdale.

There are a lot of options around how the comic version of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina may be translated into the television series by writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also happens to be the showrunner for Riverdale. A lot of speculation around the supernatural potential of Riverdale's Gargoyle King has fans hoping that Archie and the gang will find themselves in Greendale for a team showdown. Part 3 and 4 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina also begs the question of the involvement of the comic series' so-far elusive characters, most notably, Sabrina's father Edward Spellman, and The Dark Lord himself. Depending which storylines become adapted for the screen, Sabrina's season 1 worries about how to maintain a relationship with Harvey and which school to attend may very rapidly become trivial matters.
