In the new Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 trailer, Kiernan Shipka embraces chaos as the half-witch, half-human title character. Netflix’s supernatural horror series concluded the first half of its debut season last October, before airing a special Christmas-themed episode in December. In pop culture, Shipka is best known for portraying Sally Draper on AMC’s Mad Men.

Developed by Archie Comics’ Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is based on the Archie Horror imprint series. In the lead role, Shipka portrays Sabrina Spellman, a teenager with a particular set of skills. The primary storyline follows the inherent conflict of Sabrina trying to live a regular life while educating herself about being a witch. In a supporting role, Mckenna Grace plays a younger version of Sabrina Spellman. Ross Lynch portrays Sabrina's boyfriend Harvey Kinkle in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, while Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead) and Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings) portray Sabrina’s witch aunts, Hilda and Zelda.

Today, Netflix released the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 trailer. The clip begins with Sabrina walking down a darkly lit hallway, with the sound design creating a haunted house effect. Filmed from a low angle, the title character spills gasoline on Baxter High School’s floor insignia, before lighting a match and figuratively sparking the trailer’s narrative. A pounding musical score sets in, as Aunt Hilda acknowledges that “something is different” about her niece. From there, Sabrina embraces all aspects of her human-witch existence, whether it’s at school events or during personal outdoor activities. She seems to not only accept “this darker path,” but seems to understand that “maybe it’s not so bad.” In the trailer’s second half, the graphics note that “Being Wicked Never Felt So Good,” while the collective visuals tease an explosive second half for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 1. Check out the trailer and Part 2 poster below.

While many people are likely familiar with Shipka’s Mad Men role, she’s quickly establishing herself as not only a Netflix star, but a streaming horror icon. Before landing the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina lead role, Shipka appeared in numerous short films, along with the 2015 supernatural psychological horror feature The Blackcoat’s Daughter, in which she stars opposite Lucy Boynton and Emma Roberts as a high school freshman with dark powers. The film earned positive reviews from critics, and established Shipka as a viable candidate to lead Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Later this year, Shipka will appear in the horror film The Silence, along with her Chilling Adventures of Sabrina castmate Otto. However, fans of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are sure to be excited to see her return in the titular role next month. And now that the trailer is out, they have their first real footage from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 ahead of its premiere next month.
