Jay Halstead warns Hank Voight in the Chicago PD season 9 finale trailer. Spending a good chunk of the year trying to bust Los Teminos, Intelligence finally closes in on Escano and his group. Voight's team hinges on the help of his criminal informant, Ana, and things are finally culminating in the Chicago PD season 9 finale.

Voight and his Intelligence team have gone through a lot in the last couple of years. As their personal lives get intertwined with their cases, everyone on the team knows how difficult things can be when they get invested in a case. It's Voight's turn for Chicago PD season 9 as he developed a personal friendship with his CI, Ana. Knowing how dangerous Escano and Los Teminos are, the pair's relationship is currently on the rocks after Voight lies to her during the penultimate episode so she can continue her undercover job. Unfortunately, even as their ruse is burned, it doesn't seem like Voight is willing just to cut Ana loose, making her an easy target for Escano.

In the new Chicago PD season 9 finale trailer shared by TV Promos, Voight is revealed to be adamant about going after Escano and keeping Ana safe. A montage of Intelligence and the rest of PD raiding a house is shown. However, the most exciting part of the clip is that of Halstead warning Voight that he's going off the deep end. Looking at the trailer, it appears that Halstead and Voight are talking about Ana. While it may seem like that's the case, there's also a possibility that the warning is related to what happened to Hailey Upton in the last episode. Chicago PD season 9's penultimate outing ended on a cliffhanger where Upton was shown to be injured after Escano's supposed truck exploded. While Halstead's new wife is teased to get out of the incident without any major injuries, it makes sense that he would be upfront about Voight's willingness to cross lines to keep Ana safe, considering his boss' tendency to go rogue. For years, Halstead functioned as the voice of reason for Voight, and he's doing it again now.

After Alvin Olinsky's death, Chicago PD veered away from cases that became personal for Voight until Ana came along. Despite not knowing each other for long, Voight is known to be highly protective of his CIs. But he also has a soft spot for those working to turn their lives around after a series of tragedies, which is precisely what Ana is doing. Perhaps she even reminds her of Erin Lindsey, so it isn't surprising that he's willing to do anything to keep her safe, as he promised her.
