There are several running plot lines that need a resolution before Chicago Fire's current year ends. Jesse Spencer's Casey return made things more complicated for his romance with Sylvie Brett, but the pair continues to be separated. The show could delve deeper into how her ex-boyfriend's unexpected visit to Chicago impacts her moving forward. The plot synopsis hints at that as it included a mention of Brett's involvement with her current boyfriend, Dylan's interest.

The biggest mystery for the show thus far revolves around Severide's status at Chicago Fire's Firehouse 51. Taylor Kinney unexpectedly requested some time off in the middle of the year, which is why his character had to be abruptly written out. While the idea is that he will eventually return to his squad, the scarcity of information regarding his situation is concerning.

With only a handful of episodes left before Chicago Fire season 11 wraps up, some big plot twists may come Firehouse 51's way. Gallo's personal arc with her aunt could develop until the end of the year. Perhaps a late One Chicago crossover is also in the cards, especially if Casey's new job is confirmed to relate to Adam Ruzek's case in Chicago PD.
