Tom Holland's next movie with his Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Cherry, gets a fresh tease in this new behind the scenes picture. Holland has collaborated with the Russos multiple times through the MCU, dating back to 2016's Captain America: Civil War. However, Cherry will mark the first time they've worked together on a non-comic book movie. Cherry follows Holland's PTSD-ridden Army medic who turns to robbing banks in order to cope with his opioid addiction. The film is based on Nico Walker's autobiographical book of the same name.

Holland's fans are quite eager to see the actor in this role, but updates have been slow to come in recent months. Production took place last year, and post-production began earlier in 2020. The Russos previously shared a rather menacing photo of Holland during one of their editing sessions in March, but that was the last tidbit fans received. Cherry has yet to be nabbed by a distributor, and therefore remains without a release date. However, as editing is still ongoing, this isn't cause for concern.

The Russos hopped on social media earlier today to share a new Cherry tease, fresh from their latest bout of editing. Whereas the last photo offered a look at Holland, this one shows a decidedly less decipherable image from the film. Nevertheless, it indicates that work on Cherry is still ongoing, and might even be reaching its conclusion soon. You can see the Russos' post down below.

Cherry represents quite the departure for Holland, who rose to fame playing Spider-Man in the MCU. As a drug addict coping with PTSD, Holland will be moving far away from his superhero alter ego, and it'll be quite thrilling to see him take on a role like this. Fans will also get to see Holland in a darker drama later this year with The Devil All the Timewhich could give an indication of how Holland will do in Cherry. He's already proven himself to be a talented actor with his MCU films, but Cherry (and The Devil All the Time, for that matter) will be an entirely different ball game for him.

There's a chance the coronavirus pandemic could have slowed progress on Cherry's post-production, but clearly the Russos are still chipping away at it. If they're close to completion, a trailer could be on the way soon, or perhaps a distributor announcement. Until Cherry gets a distributor attached, it's hard to say when it could possibly be released. Stay tuned for more updates about the latest Holland-Russo collaboration.
