Here’s a look at all the characters in Disney+’s Cheaper by the Dozen and the actors who play them. Originally a semi-autobiographical novel written in 1948 by Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey, the story has been adapted multiple times over the past several decades into film, stage plays, and even musicals. The Disney+ version is the latest to be released, and it looks to be taking the story in a slightly different direction than its predecessors.
Disney+’s Cheaper by the Dozen is the latest adaptation of the story and the first one to be produced since the films of the early 2000s starring Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt. Much like those films, Disney+’s Cheaper by the Dozen has the family being the Bakers instead of the Gilbreths as they were in the original novel. Not only that, but two things unique to this version of the story are that there are ten children in the family instead of twelve and that the large family comes about from being a blended family.
This is a list of the principal cast of Cheaper by the Dozen. For many of the cast members, specifically the children, their roles before this film haven’t been very numerous. However, many of the adult cast members have had highly prolific roles in both film and television prior to the release of the movie, especially the parents.
Zach Braff As Paul Baker
Zach Braff plays Paul Baker, the patriarch of the Baker family. Braff is best known for playing J.D. on the NBC series Scrubs. Braff made his directorial debut with Garden State, which won him a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album.
Gabrielle Union As Zoe Baker
Gabrielle Union plays Zoe Baker, the matriarch of the Baker family. Union has starred in Bring It On, She’s All That, and 10 Things I Hate About You. Union also won an NAACP Image Award for her role as Pauletta Patterson on Being Mary Jane.
Erika Christensen As Kate
Erika Christensen plays Kate, Paul’s ex-wife and the Bakers’ babysitter. One of Christensen’s most notable roles is as Julia Braveman-Graham on Parenthood, for which she won a Gracie Award in 2014. More recently, Christensen starred as Samantha Gerrity in HBO Max's Kimi.
Timon Kyle Durrett As Dom Clayton
Timon Kyle Durrett plays Zoe’s ex-husband Dom Clayton. Durrett previously starred as Davis West on Ava DuVarney’s Queen Sugar. Durrett also starred in the UMC series Stuck with You.
Cheaper By The Dozen’s Supporting Cast & Characters
Brittany And Cynthia Daniel As Melanie And Michele - Brittany and Cynthia Daniel play Paul's investors Melanie and Michele, respectively. Both are best known for playing the Wakefield twins on Sweet Valley High. Cynthia also had a small part in That ‘80s Show, and Brittany played Carmen in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
June Diane Raphael As Anne - June Diane Raphael plays one of the Bakers’ neighbors, Anne. One of Raphael’s most notable roles has been as Piper in Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV::. She also plays Brianna in Grace and Frankie and Devin LeSeven on Big Mouth.
Journee Brown As Deja Baker - Journee Brown plays the eldest of Zoe’s children, Deja. Brown has also had small parts in Orange Is The New Black and Night Comes On.
Kylie Rogers As Ella Baker - Kylie Rogers plays Ella Baker. Rogers is best known for playing Sophie in Mojave and Minx Lawrence in The Whispers. Rogers has also appeared in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Yellowstone.
Andre Robinson As DJ Baker - Andre Robinson plays DJ Baker. Robinson starred as Niko in Amazon’s Niko and the Sword of Light. Additionally, he has been the voice of Clyde McBride on The Loud House since 2018.
Caylee Blosenski As Harley Baker - Caylee Blosenski plays Harley Baker. Cheaper by the Dozen is Blosenski’s first notable role.
Aryan Simhadri As Haresh Baker - Aryan Simhadri plays Haresh Baker. Aryan Simhadri recently replaced Collin Dean as Tiffany in the Adventure Time spinoff Adventure Time: Distant Lands. He has also had parts in Spin and Adventures in Wonder Park.
Luke Prael As Seth Baker - Luke Prael plays Paul’s nephew, Seth. Before Cheaper by the Dozen, Prael appeared in the movies Eighth Grade and Boarding School.
Mykal-Michelle Harris And Leo Abelo Perry As Luna And Luca Baker - Mykal-Michelle Harris and Leo Abelo Perry play Luna and Luca Baker, respectively. Harris previously starred as Santa Monica in the Black-ish spinoff, Mixed-ish, both of which writer Kenya Barris also created. Additionally, Perry had a small part in Black-ish season 8.
Christian And Sebastian Cote As Bailey And Bronx Baker - Christian and Sebastian Cote play Bailey and Bronx Baker in Cheaper by the Dozen, respectively. Both of them played George Keller in Hulu's Monsterland.
