Screen Rant has an exclusive clip from the upcoming psychological thriller Chariot, which will be released both digitally and in select theaters on April 15. Written and directed by Adam Sigal, who was a producer on the recent Christina Ricci film Monstrous, the film is a dark and twisted exploration of the aspects of life that the human psyche doesn't understand. John Malkovich stars as the mysterious Dr. Karn, an eccentric specialist whose job is to guide patients through reincarnation without them being made aware of the process.

One of those patients is the unwitting Harrison Hardy (played by Halloween Kills' Thomas Mann), who starts to experiences recurring dreams he can't explain after an encounter with Maria Deschaines (Rosa Salazar, Brand New Cherry Flavor). Realizing there has been a glitch in the system, Dr. Karn must try to fix the problem before the damage undoes his careful plans and permanently wrecks Harrison's future. Chariot also stars Shane West, who has several exciting films coming out this year.

With films like Amityville: The Awakening and Kong: Skull Island under his belt, Mann is certainly no stranger to thrilling adventure, but it will be interesting to see him partake in a more mental exploration of the thrills and chills that haunt humanity. On the other side, his scene partner Salazar has plenty of experience on that front. After all, her existential animated drama Undone, is only weeks away from premiering its second season on Amazon Prime. Together, they are entirely in their element discussing mysterious dreams under the glow of a candlelit dinner in the exclusive Chariot clip below.

While Chariot's trailer explains the basics of Karn's so-called infallible system, the exclusive clip provides a hint at what happens when it isn't infallible after all. Harrison describes the recurring dream that has been plaguing him to a very receptive Maria, who almost intuitively understands what he's going through and what he's after. They also discuss Karn, but it is clear that neither of them is fully aware of the truth that hides behind the help being offered.

Science fiction, psychology and romance all collide in what is sure to be a tale that will have viewers guessing at every turn.
