The characters in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. went through a lot over the course of the show's seven seasons. They fought Hydra, went to the future, traveled to the past, and saved the world over and over again. It stands to reason that the could survive pretty much anything a horror movie would throw at them.

If the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were placed into a horror movie setting without the benefit of their superpowers or comic book-related gadgets, would they still have the same survival rating? Definitely not. After all, there are a lot of specific character types who meet their ends early in a horror movie compared to those that survive to see the sequel.

Phil Coulson

Agents of SHIELD The Man Behind the Shield Phil Coulson

If there's one thing audiences know about horror movies, and genre movies in general, it's that the mentor bites the dust in order for the heroes to stand on their own. Think along the lines of Dr. Loomis in the Halloween movies.

Dr. Loomis knows how dangerous Michael Meyers is and tracks him down, but he still doesn't survive through the franchise. As the mentor to his young agents who knows how bad guys work, Phil Coulson will die. It's just a matter of when.

Lance Hunter

Lance Hunter isn't always the best agent, but he does have some exceptional fighting and weapon skills. Unfortunately for him, he's also in the role of comic relief much of the time, which means he's unlikely to survive the events of a slasher flick.

The character who makes jokes about the seriousness of the situation — or at the killer's expense — almost never makes it to the end of the journey. Hunter also tends to be the one who rushes into a situation without a plan, especially if it involves helping Bobbi. If she ends up in trouble, Hunter dies trying to help her.

Bobbi Morse

Agents of Shield Bobbi Morse

A great spy, Bobbi Morse is something of a chameleon. She can fit into just about any situation to get the intelligence she needs. She does, however, have a weakness, and that's Hunter.

If Hunter dies trying to get to (or protect) Bobbi, Bobbi dies the same way. She already proved she would sacrifice her own life for his when she took a bullet for him while trapped and tortured by Grant Ward in the second season of the series.

Melinda May

Despite Melinda May being incredibly tough and knowledgeable, she also fills a similar role as Coulson, that of mentor — especially to the female members of the team. She takes up the responsibility for training Daisy, Elena, and Piper, and becomes Simmons' confidante in season 4. May has been taken and replaced by an LMD without the team noticing because they trust her skills so much. Their overconfidence in her would make her an easy target for a horror movie killer.

Elena Rodriguez

Elena YoYo Rodriguez Agents Of SHIELD

Someone who wants to do the most good for the most people, Elena Rodriguez is taking on bad guys before S.H.I.E.L.D. ever makes her an agent. She dives right into dangerous situations, often without thinking about the consequences, something that comes back to haunt her in season 7.

Her impulsive nature would likely lead to Elena directly wanting to go after the killer in a horror movie. She wouldn't want to wait around to see who the next victim is. That would put her on a collision course for death.

Leopold Fitz

Agents of SHIELD Purpose in the Machine Leo Fitz

Fitz and Simmons are arguably the romantic leads of the series. They're the couple the audience gets most invested in from the jump. Being a romantic lead means Leopold Fitz has a slightly higher chance of survival than someone else, but not by much.

That's because Fitz is usually the brains of the operation. He's the one coming up with the plans, the weapons, the technology, etc. to give the team an edge. That makes Fitz a huge threat to the killer. His need to make sure Jemma Simmons survives at all costs — even his own life — means he would put himself in the path of the killer to make sure she survives as well. Fitz would either die with the knowledge of who the killer is, or he's so badly wounded that the audience doesn't know if he survives until the sequel.

Grant Ward

Grant Ward In Agents Of SHIELD Season 2

In the world of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Grant Ward is a traitor who ends up leading his own branch of Hydra. He's a liar and has no problem torturing someone for information. He's also pretty obsessed with Daisy. In the world of a horror movie, however, Ward is either the killer himself, or a really good red herring.

Ward is the kind of character who is going to pop up unexpectedly in places, being just creepy enough for the audience to doubt his intentions.

Daisy Johnson

Agents of SHIELD Chloe Bennet Daisy Quake Johnson Season 6

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. might start with Coulson emerging from the shadows, but it's really Daisy Johnson's story. Daisy goes from a woman living out of her van trying to find her birth family to becoming a superhero that gets to go to space with the family she's made for herself.

Daisy, despite all of the times she's tried to sacrifice herself for the greater good, is a survivor. She's a fast learner, someone who is quick to recognize patterns of behavior, and someone who can fake interest in a murderer long enough to get them caught. She's not going down without a fight, and she would definitely be a horror movie's final girl — at least until the sequel.

Alphonso Mackenzie

Alphonso Mackenzie Agents Of SHIELD

Over the course of the show, Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie has one really big fear that almost comes to life: death by robot. He's planned for what it would be like to be stuck in a situation where the robots take over. As a result, he's pretty well-versed in some dark scenarios.

It's only fair that Mack would likely be the one person in the group ready to combat a slasher's masked killer with his pop culture knowledge, his handmade shotgun axe, and his ability to throw a punch. Mack is the one guy who makes it to the end of the trilogy, though a little worse for wear. He's likely the traumatized person the final girl has to go to for help in her last brush with the killer.

Jemma Simmons

The only other character who could rival Daisy Johnson for a chance to be the final girl is Jemma Simmons. Most of the final girls in horror movies are not the girls who are ready to break the rules and jump right into action. Final girls have to grow to that point. That's exactly what happens with Jemma.

Jemma begins the series as a scientist who needs rules and structure in her life. Over the course of the series, she becomes more and more willing to break the rules for the people she cares about. She also becomes willing to kill the people who would kill her, something she hesitated to do in the first season. Jemma uses anything and everything at her disposal as a weapon in a fight, whether that's a fire extinguisher or a glass pitcher. She shows initiative, gets justice for her friends, and lives to move on with her life.
