Great ready to meet the next great web-slinger, as Cindy Moon AKA Silk is officially joining Sony’s Spider-Man Universe in her own TV show on Prime Video, Silk: Spider Society. This new shared universe was first launched by Venom and was initially presented as a series of films focused on Spider-Man’s classic rogues' gallery with the likes of Morbius and soon, Kraven the Hunter. Then Sony announced Madame Web and later El Muerto, two very unorthodox picks for their own films.

Silk: Spider Society is a solid push forward for the SSU to become more comprehensive and Silk, in particular, is a fantastic choice for a main protagonist. She differs from the other members of the Spider-Man family in her upbringing, aesthetic, and narrative tone – plus she’s fairly new to the comics, so it’s exciting to see her get her own show already. Of course, Silk is far from the only character under Sony’s purview who would do well with their own SSU project.

Spider-Man (Miles Morales)

Miles Morales climbing a wall in Spider-Man

If there is one Spider-Man character fans are desperate to see in live-action, it’s Miles Morales. He’s been teased several times in the MCU, and of course, he’s the central protagonist of the Spider-Verse films, but he’d also be a welcome sight in his own series in the SSU.

Unfortunately, Miles Morales probably won’t be headlining a future live-action Spider-Man film on his own, especially in the SSU, solely because Tom Holland’s supposedly contracted for a new trilogy in the MCU. As such, a TV show like Silk: Spider Society might be the best option until that trilogy has passed. Whatever the case, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is currently without a Spider-Man, and Miles Morales is the perfect remedy.

Black Cat

Black Cat in Marvel Comics

As one of Marvel’s most prolific and popular anti-heroes, Black Cat would fit in perfectly thematically and narratively within the SSU. Frankly, in comparison to Madame Web and definitely, El Muerto, she would be more than deserving of her own film.

A Black Cat film or TV show would obviously delve into her origins as the daughter of a world-renowned cat burglar, but it could also see her oppose other Spider-Man villains like the Maggia or the Foreigner, and even work with Silver Sable.

Silver Sable

Silver Sable in Marvel comics

Silver Sable is a sometimes friend to and sometimes enemy of Spider-Man, and her individual characterization reflects that complexity well enough to helm her own project in the SSU.

Silver Sable is a mercenary from the fictional country of Symkaria – located next to Latveria, Doctor Doom’s home – and leader of the group Wild Pack. Her story could delve into more realistic elements of espionage, intrigue, and war that could set it apart from the classic superhero formula.

Spider-Women

Spider-Verse Spider-Women

The cast for Madame Web is full of big names in addition to Dakota Johnson as the titular hero with Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott also featuring. Their characters are still a well-kept secret, but based on other casting decisions, some fans are theorizing that Madame Web could be bringing the Spider-Women to the big screen. That would include the various women who have held the moniker of Spider-Woman and Spider-Girl, including Jessica Drew, Julia Carpenter, Mattie Franklin, and Anya Corazon.

If that’s the case they could all be primed for their own project following Madame Web. Jessica Drew would be more than deserving of a film on her own, especially since it doesn’t seem like she’s going to be featured in the MCU anytime soon. Alternatively, Julia Carpenter could be a central figure as she becomes the second Madame Web.

Ghost-Spider

Gwen Stacy Ghost Spider in Marvel comics

Gwen Stacy and specifically her superpowered variant, Ghost-Spider, is a central focus in the Spider-Verse films, which has primed audiences for her live-action debut. Like Jessica Drew, she’d be a character worthy of helming a film in theaters and/or a TV show on Prime Video all on her own.

While she was introduced as part of a multiversal story, that wouldn’t need to be an element of her arc in the SSU, as she could just be empowered in that universe – which would then allow her to function as a variant in the MCU should they ever cross over again as Venom did in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It could therefore just focus on her as a hero, even going so far as to have her as the premier hero of the SSU.

Spider-Punk

Spider-Punk in Spider-Geddon

Fans are going to meet one of Spider-Man’s coolest variants in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, because it was recently announced that Daniel Kaluuya is voicing Hobie Brown AKA Spider-Punk from Earth-138. Following that, he’d be a cool inclusion in the SSU in his own TV series like Silk: Spider Society, and further, like Ghost-Spider, he could just exist as a normal character in this universe.

Spider-Punk would be a cool way to play with the Spider-Man legacy in live-action as they share a lot of the same abilities and talents, but they differ in aesthetic, tone, and methodology – plus his action sequences are perfectly suited for awesome needle drops. Furthermore, his punk attitude is an opportune vessel to explore his and other characters’ relationships with power and authority. Hopefully, audiences don’t have to wait long to see him shine in live-action.

Scarlet Spiders

Scarlet Spider in Marvel comics

Since the SSU is currently without its marquee hero, there are expectations that Peter Parker will eventually make his way there from the MCU. The recent deal has seemingly pushed that back several years, which could open up an opportunity for related characters like the Scarlet Spiders. This would include both Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, clones of Peter Parker, from the controversial Clone Saga.

They were both created by mad genius and villain, Miles Warren AKA the Jackal as methods to take down and supplant Spider-Man. However, as their journey’s progressed, they evolve from being his enemies to his allies and even brothers. Their story could be quite compelling as they tackle their own role in the world, with Ben even becoming the SSU’s Spider-Man like in the comics.

Wraith

Wraith (Yuri Watanabe) in Marvel comics.

Not all of Spider-Man’s close allies over the years are spider-themed, as in the case of Yuri Watanabe AKA Wraith. If she’s introduced to the SSU, her story would be a good fit for a TV show as she goes from being the Captain of the NYPD to a ruthless vigilante who uses fear to stop crime. She'd also be a welcome sight in the MCU now that Peter needs some new friends and allies.

A Wraith TV show would be a logical way to explore the seedy underbelly lurking beneath the surface of the SSU. It could, therefore, incorporate villains like Silvermane, Hammerhead, Tombstone, and/or Mr. Negative as antagonists.

Doctor Octopus

Doctor Octopus in Marvel comics

If they are looking for another classic Spider-Man villain to get their own film in the SSU after Kraven the Hunter, the next best option is Doctor Octopus. He’d be another character many fans would be eager to see more of and there is a lot the SSU could do with him. For a start, it could be the next step in eventually getting the Sinister Six film that they had intended to make before Spider-Man joined the MCU.

Additionally, a Doc Ock film would fit in the vein of Venom and Morbius as it could explore his development into an anti-hero as the Superior Spider-Man – a storyline in which he swapped bodies with Peter Parker and learned what it means to be Spider-Man.

Prowler

Prowler on the hunt in Miles Morales Spider-Man.

Another popular Spider-Man villain who’d be a good fit for their own project is the Prowler – specifically Aaron Davis, Miles Morales’ uncle. He could also feature as an anti-hero and would be a cool Spider-Man comp like Venom. Funnily enough, it could also finally make good on an MCU misstep in casting Donald Glover as Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and then never doing anything more with him.

Interestingly, this could function as a prequel about Aaron’s origins to becoming the Prowler before becoming an antagonist for Miles.
