Epix's brand new period horror drama Chapelwaite premiered its pilot episode on August 22, 2021. Based on Stephen King's short story Jerusalem's Lot, the story concerns Captain Charles Boone (Adrien Brody), a grievous single-father reeling over a family tragedy as he returns to his haunted childhood village of Preacher's Corners.

Chapelwaite showrunners Jason and Peter Filardi have compiled an excellent and diverse cast of characters to support the central turn by the Oscar-winning Brody. As fans continue to enjoy the show, they may wonder where they've seen the cast members' familiar faces before.

Adrien Brody (Charles): The Pianist

Adrien Brody still holds the record for being the youngest male to win an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role, winning at age 29 for his splendid performance in The Pianist. He's also worked with Peter Jackson on King Kong, Spike Lee on Summer of Sam, and four times with Wes Anderson.

With a recent guest spot on Peaky Blinders, Brody has fresh experience playing a character from a previous century, which is sure to help him craft a well-rounded lead as Captain Boone, a man lamenting the death of his wife at sea while caring for his son and two daughters.

Emily Hampshire (Rebecca): Schitt's Creek

Rebecca holds up a lantern in the dark on Chapelwaite

In a major departure from her comedic role as the ever-likable Stevie Budd on Schitt's Creek, Emily Hampshire plays Rebecca Morgan on Chapelwaite, an austere governess who agrees to look after Boone's children in the small town of Preacher's Corner.

Far from an overnight success, Hampshire has been a working actor since she was 13 years old, appearing on such shows as Ruby Gloom, Busytown Mysteries, and 12 Monkeys before landing her breakout role as Stevie Budd. In terms of the big screen, Hampshire has played bit parts in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis and Darren Aronofsky's Mother!, among others. Her experience will go a long way in creating a memorable character on Chapelwaite.

Gord Rand (Burroughs): Orphan Black

In addition to a scant cinematic resume, Gord Rand has spent much of his acting career on television. His most notable roles include a 9-episode arc as Detective Marty Duko on Orphan Black and an 11-episode run as Able Funk on Pure. On Chapelwaite, he plays Minister Martin Burroughs, the local clergyman with his own mysterious beliefs.

Rand also appeared on one episode of The Handmaid's Tale in 2019, playing the role of Matthias in one of the Hulu show's best episodes, "Household." Going back a decade, Rand's first big recurring TV role came on the 2011 show medical war drama Combat Hospital.

Trina Corkum (Mary): Diggstown

Trina Corkum plays Mary Dennison in Chapelwaite, a Preacher's Corner resident with her own cryptic past that will unfold as the season progresses. Corkum has recently appeared as Judge Kilcoyne on the CBC legal drama Diggstown and made two notable appearances a decade apart on Trailer Park Boys.

Perhaps most importantly, Corkum already shared the screen with Gord Rand on the episode of the TV series Pure entitled "The Proposal," which is sure to give them a comfortability and collaborative shorthand with each other that will ease the process for both actors on Chapelwaite.

Steven McCarthy (Stephen): Barkskins

As Charles Boone's estranged relative Stephen, Canadian actor Steven McCarthy is bound to impact Chapelwaite in a major way. McCarthy has spent the better part of the last two decades kicking around on television, with his most recent stint coming as Father Clape in the possibly-canceled Nat Geo historical drama Barkskins.

McCarthy has also enjoyed a character arc on the Amazon original sci-fi series The Expanse, playing the role of Jakob Mazur in a 10-episode run. Fans may have also recognized McCarthy as the photographer from the recent Netflix original movie Pieces of a Woman or as Dev in the Disney dog-sledding movie Togo.

Genevieve DeGraves (Apple Girl): Slasher

As the seductive siren Apple Girl on Chappelwaite, Genevieve DeGraves is bound to stir the dramatic pot as the season advances. After making her acting debut in the forgettable horror film Dark Forest in 2015, DeGraves has landed her biggest role as Cassidy Olenski in the Netflix original horror anthology Slasher.

Despite being canceled after one season, eagle-eyed fans may have also spotted DeGraves in Jupiter's Legacy, in which she played twins Mary and Margaret Rinsdale in episode 3. In one of her few non-horror credits, DeGraves also appeared in the Netflix rom-com Let It Snow in 2019.

Allegra Fulton (Ann): The Shape Of Water

Canadian actress Allegra Fulton plays Ann Morgan on Chapelwaite, a Preacher's Corner local with a curious connection to the town's haunted past. Although Fulton has been a working actor since the early 90s, her most notable roles include Yolanda from the Best Picture-winning The Shape of Water, and true Good Doctor fans know she also played Dr. Karla Saravia on the medical drama.

Perhaps most important to her role on Chappelwaite, Fulton also appeared on an episode of Schitt's Creek, which is bound to give her leg up in scenes shared with Hampshire, with whom she presumably has a good working relationship.

Dean Armstrong (Dr. Guilford): Heroes Reborn

As Dr. J.P. Guilford on Chapelwaite, Dean Armstrong is going to play a vital role in how the townsfolk perceive the underlying threat besieging Preacher's Corner. Starkly opposed to Minister Burroughs' religious views, Dr. Guilford believes in the natural order of things.

Aside from playing Blake Wyzecki for five years on Queer as Folk, Armstrong's most notable role includes Special Agent Cole Cutler on Heroes Reborn. With a few forgettable horror sequels under his belt as well, Armstong's previous multi-episode TV arc came in the 2018 Starz actin drama Insomnia.

Michael Hough (Daniel): Game Of Thrones

Playing the role of Daniel Thompson, Michael Hough may be the biggest wild card on Chappelwaite. With an intimidating rough-hewn appearance, Hough has appeared in such grizzled historical and fantasy dramas as Vikings and Game of Thrones.

Hough has also parlayed his physicality to terrorize people as Burly Man in the 2021 Netflix original Awake. With single-episode appearances in Murdoch Mysteries and Bizarre Murders, indicating the type of dark genre material the actor is gravitated to, Hough is poised for his first substantial character arc on Chapelwaite.
