Syfy has announced that Channel Zero season 2 will be titled Channel Zero: Butcher's Block, and released a synopsis, teaser trailer and cast list for the next chilling tale in the series. Though it may not have as large an audience as its fellow horror anthology series, American Horror Story, Syfy's Channel Zero will tonight conclude the second of two fantastically dread-filled seasons. Season 2 is based on the popular creepypasta (internet horror story) "No-End House," and "Butcher's Block" is similarly based on a spooky tale - Kerry Hammond’s"Search and Rescue Woods."

Channel Zero kicked off in 2016 with "Candle Cove," a six-episode story based on the creepypasta of the same name, about a mysterious and sinister TV show that some people remember watching as children, despite no record of the show ever being made or broadcast. The series is anthology horror for the internet age - taking the spookiest stories that have emerged on the web, and elaborating upon them.

Check out the teaser trailer for Channel Zero: Butcher's Block above, and the synopsis and cast list below:

Inspired by Kerry Hammond’s “Search and Rescue Woods” Creepypasta tale, CHANNEL ZERO: BUTCHER’S BLOCK tells the story of a young woman named Alice (Olivia Luccardi, “It Follows”) who moves to a new city and learns about a series of disappearances that may be connected to a baffling rumor about mysterious staircases in the city’s worst neighborhoods. With help from her sister, they discover that something is preying on the city’s residents.

Cast includes:

Olivia Luccardi (“It Follows”) stars as Alice Woods, an idealistic young woman who devotes her life to helping the less fortunate, including her schizophrenic sister. But behind a facade of composure, Alice's struggles with family, money and her own personal health are threatening to push her over the edge.

Holland Roden (“Teen Wolf”) as Zoe Woods, Alice's older sister - a sharp, tough young woman whose struggles with mental illness have worn her down over the years. She hates that her younger sister has to take care of her and she'd give anything to go back to the way things used to be.

Rutger Hauer (“Blade Runner”) as Joseph Peach, a 1950s meatpacking magnate who grew increasingly reclusive and then disappeared after his beloved daughters were murdered.

Brandon Scott (“Wreck-It Ralph”) as Officer Luke Vanczyk, a young but already jaded cop, living in the shadow of his father, the Chief of Police. Luke’s world-weary exterior hides a fierce commitment to justice, and a deep love for his troubled community.

Krisha Fairchild (“Krisha”) as Louise Lispector, a retired journalist who has lived in Garrett, Michigan her whole life. Now she spends her days doing taxidermy and working on her personal project: A book about a pattern of disappearances in the city's worst neighborhood. But when she rents out part of her house to Alice and Zoe Woods, she finds herself in danger from the people behind the disappearances.

Channel Zero - Butchers Block teaser

"Search and Rescue Woods" was first published on Reddit's "NoSleep" forum, and is currently in the process of being turned into a novel. The post was a fictional collection of anecdotes from a Search and Rescue officer working for the U.S. Forest Service, and includes creepy tales about people being taken away by "the bear man," search-and-rescue canines finding scent trails that stop at cliff faces, and random lone staircases constructed in the middle of the woods. Needless to say, there's plenty of material for Channel Zero to draw from, and based on the synopsis it appears that the random staircases will be the focus - albeit with a change in location.

The current season, "No-End House," follows a group of people who explore a supposed art installation - a massive house consisting of six rooms, "each scarier than the last." Even after they seemingly escape the house, however, the protagonists soon find that the horror has followed them home.

The season finale of Channel Zero: No-End House airs tonight at 10/9c on Syfy.
