Nam Vo from The Challenge: Double Agents opened up about his shocking medical disqualification. The former Ultimate Beastmaster contestant competed very well throughout his rookie season of the MTV reality series. He originally partnered with Olympian LoLo Jones but the two never quite found their footing. The rookie challenger partnered with fan-favorite Tula “Big T” Fazakerley after Jones quit the game.

Vo had yet to earn a golden skull, the prerequisite for competing in the final challenge, but he had the strength to potentially steal one from one of his fellow challengers. However, the rookie eye candy began to feel striking pain in his back. He held off as long as he could but he finally went to the hospital to get checked out. Fellow challengers like Darrell Taylor and Aneesa Ferreira supported the decision. He returned from the hospital seemingly in the clear but once he arrived at the next challenge, host TJ Lavin told Vo that he was unfit to continue in the competition.  Vo took to Instagram to offer insight into his feelings on his unfortunate exit.

My biggest fear and anxiety was to be medically disqualified that’s why I hide it the whole time and suffer from week to week,” said Vo, referring to his injury. The challenger admitted that brushing off his injury for so long started to take a toll on his health. “I was eating less, couldn’t work out and at some point, I felt so dizzy I couldn’t really interact with the others anymore and keep my poker face to pretend that everything is alright.” Vo was not the first contestant to be medically disqualified from this season. Nicole Zanatta and Liv Jawando both left due to injuries while Natalie Anderson discovered she was pregnant.

It literally broke my heart in that moment when TJ exposed, I had to leave the show,” continued Vo in his Instagram post. He admitted the situation was very emotional for him. “I never cried so hard in my life ever before the whole night,” confessed the gentle giant, “I was feeling so disappointed in myself; I don’t know why but it just felt like that.” However, Vo reassured fans that the decision to pull him from the game was the correct one. “Making this decision and taking me out of the show was taking care of me at the same time,” said Vo, “So I could heal, get recovered and may come back even stronger.

Vo joined two other male challengers that left the game earlier in the season’s twelfth episode. Rivals Devin Walker and Josh Martinez were eliminated from the competition after a surprise security breach twist called for a double elimination. The golden skulls belonging to them were given to CT Tamburello and Darrell Taylor. The double-elimination shook up several partnerships. Vo’s medical disqualification left Big T as a rogue agent.

Vo made for a great addition to The Challenge: Double Agents. He competed fiercely, treated everybody kindly, and looked great doing it all. The sudden exit certainly disappointed his fans that hoped the newcomer could take it all. However, as he teased in his Instagram, the new fan favorite might return from a future season stronger than ever.
