Carl Lentz, the former pastor of Hillsong Church where some Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars attended services, is under fire after he was let go from his position due to an alleged months-long affair he had during the pandemic. The alleged mistress came forth with shocking revelations about their alleged fling, and somehow the Kardashians have been included in the scandal.
Many were shocked to learn of Lentz's firing from star-studded megachurch Hillsong last week. While the church only noted “a recent revelation of moral failures” that led to his removal, one day later the former celebrity pastor took to Instagram to admit to cheating on his wife of 17 years, the mother to his three children and fellow pastor, Laura Lentz. Lentz was known for being the pastor who baptized Justin Bieber at the celebrity-filled megachurch that included superstar attendees like Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Bono, and Selena Gomez.
On Tuesday, Lentz's alleged mistress broke her silence on the affair and detailed her experience with the disgraced pastor. “I’m here to tell the truth,” NYC-based fashion designer Ranin told the NY Post. "And maybe by doing that, other people will have the courage to speak up too.” The Palestinian NYC resident revealed how she met Lentz at a park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn back in May. After saving her phone number in the Notes section of his phone, which she noted was a "red flag," the two met up at her apartment where they allegedly drank tequila and talked for hours. He allegedly told her “the most beautiful women come from the Middle East.”
She went on to do a background check on him and even asked him if he was married, which he admitted. She shared how much he talked about his wife and how guilty he felt about their relationship. But according to Ranin, he called her his “Middle Eastern unicorn woman” and told her she reminded him of his friends, the Kardashians, something that rubbed her the wrong way. “I don’t like when people drop names.” She went on to call Lentz out for being “a professional narcissist” who “lies too much.” However, by September, she claims they started seeing each other more than twice a week. “We were obsessed with each other,” she said. “He was like a drug to me. I was a drug to him.”
Last week, Lentz took to Instagram to own up to his adulterous behavior. "I was unfaithful in my marriage," he captioned a photo standing with his wife and kids. "This failure is on me, and me alone and I take full responsibility for my actions." Now, that he has been removed from Hillsong Church, Lentz says he will "begin a journey of rebuilding trust with my wife, Laura and my children and taking real time to work on and heal my own life and seek out the help that I need."
