The Big Brother 22: All-Stars cast is reportedly getting paid much less than the stars that competed on Celebrity Big Brother season 2. This is only the second time that the series is doing a full All-Stars season that consists of only returning players competing for another shot at winning $500,000. Last year, the second season of Celebrity Big Brother filled the cast with stars vying to win the grand prize of $250,000. While many viewers may think that the final prize is the only payment that these castmates receive, it’s most definitely not.

Usually, the contestants on Big Brother get paid a few different stipends depending on how far they make it into the season. Over the years, this compensation has varied depending on the season and the type of people they’re casting. Celebrities, returning players, and regular people typically get compensated differently. Prior to 2012, houseguests reportedly received a $750 weekly stipend. In more recent years, this increased to $1,000 per week per contestant. This is all in addition to the $500,000 grand prize, $50,000 runner-up payday, and the $25,000 “America’s Favorite Houseguest” award.

TMZ reported that each of the 12 contestants on Celebrity Big Brother season 2 made $100,000 just for setting foot through the door. That’s approximately $60,000 more than what the Big Brother 22: All-Stars contestants are raking in. According to BB15 winner Andy Herren, some of this season’s cast members have signed contracts for $40,000 to enter the house. In a tweet (seen below), Andy claimed that he knew quite a few people who had signed contracts with production to receive $40,000 to just walk into the BB22 home.

While this appears to be a large difference in stipends between the two seasons’ castmates, it is of note that Celebrity Big Brother has featured castmates names like Dina Lohan, Joey Lawrence, Ryan Lochte, Natalie Eva Marie, Kato Kaelin, Tom Green, Lolo Jones, Kandi Burruss, Jonathan Bennett, Ricky Williams, and winner Tamar Braxton. Alternatively, it is safe to say that this season of Big Brother: All-Stars has not featured that many people with big names and a large fanbase that transcends the franchise.

Despite the disparity in compensation, the BB22 winner will still walk away with $250,000 more than Tamar Braxton did for winning Celebrity Big Brother season 2. Plus, the losing houseguests will also get to walk away with a nice chunk of change.
