CBS recently released the first promo for Big Brother season 25. In the short video, the show may have subtly shaded a controversial past winner. While it was shocking to see the show publicly shade a former contestant, they actually had a right to do so.

After weeks of rumors regarding the new season, fans finally have been given some insight into the milestone season. In mid-May CBS announced that Big Brother 25 will premiere on Wednesday, August 2. This is a month later than what fans were expecting as the show tends to premiere new seasons in late June or, more recently, early July. It is unclear what sparked the later premiere date; however, it is assumed the recent writers' strike played a role in the decision.

Season 21 Winner Jackson Michie Is Not Seen In The Video Montage

While announcing the premiere date for season 25, CBS also subtly shaded one of the show’s former winners. The promo for the upcoming season included a video montage of all the past houseguests being crowned winners on finale night. The only former winner to not be seen, rightfully so, was season 21’s Jackson Michie. Jackson was one of Big Brother’s most controversial players. Throughout his time on the show, Jackson made racist and rude comments to his fellow houseguests. Therefore, it is understandable why the network would not want to brag about someone like him winning the show.

The Video Included All The Past Winners In Preparation For Season 25

Jackson was the only former Big Brother winner to not be seen in the video montage; however, they did include a short clip of his finale episode. While all of the other past winners were clearly shown in the video, Jackson was hidden by the confetti in his clip, making it a subtle shade towards the former player. Although there have been numerous controversial past players, some of which did win and were in fact seen in the video, Jackson is perceived as being the worst of them all. In fact, many longtime fans don’t even associate him with the game. Therefore, it makes sense why CBS would opt out of showing his face during the exciting season promo.

Although Jackson did ultimately win his season, he is not the type of player let alone a winner that the show wants to promote. Big Brother has been working hard to avoid players like Jackson being on the show. Subtly not showing him in the video is just another way Big Brother is working towards their goal of no longer having houseguests like him compete on the show. Ultimately, it was a good call by CBS to subtly not include Jackson in the Big Brother 25 promo video. A new, and hopefully better, winner will soon be crowned as Big Brother season 25 premieres on Wednesday, August 2 on CBS.
