Pacific Rim Uprising star Cailee Spaeny has said she would be interested in playing Catwoman in a future project. The actress is set to make her feature film debut in next year's anticipated sequel as the character Amara Namani, but she isn't stopping there. Spaeny has big plans for her future, hoping to land the part of one of the most famous figures in DC Comics lore.

David Ayer's in-development Gotham City Sirens film is expected to feature Selina Kyle as one of the leads (along with Poison Ivy and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn), and there's been much speculation amongst fans as to who will play her. Baby Driver's Eiza González has long been rumored, but for now the role is up for grabs, and Spaeny is very much interested in landing it for herself.

While speaking with Comic Book after the Pacific Rim Uprising panel at New York Comic Con, Spaeny was asked which superhero she would like to portray the most and threw her hat into the ring for Catwoman:

"It's a tough one. I mean I would love to play...I really have hope because they keep making more, but I would love to play Catwoman or something, how cool would that be? Yeah, I want that."

It's a role that could definitely be available at some point in the future. After all, Catwoman is one of the most well-known DC characters, and regularly makes the leap to onscreen adaptations of the Batman mythos and will likely show up again at some point. The CW's Arrowverse seems poised to introduce a new Batman, so Spaeny potentially could fulfill her dream on television. However, with nothing concrete in place there, it's more plausible fans next see Catwoman in a DC Extended Universe production such as Gotham City Sirens.

Of course, given the age of Batman himself in the DCEU, with the World's Greatest Detective appearing as a somewhat grizzled Ben Affleck, the casting for the movie franchise may be someone with a little more experience. Given that Michelle Pfeiffer would love to reprise her role as Catwoman, and with even Game of Thrones star Lena Headey showing interest in playing Catwoman in the DCEU, there's bound to be fierce competition to take on that role.

It's not only DC properties that have crossovers, though, and Spaeny's own Pacific Rim franchise is possibly set for its own in the future. Pacific Rim Uprising director Steven S. DeKnight has stated that a crossover with King Kong and Godzilla is a possibility, a notion which fans of the original film have been asking about for some time. For now, though, Kaiju aficionados will have to made to do with a breakdown of the Pacific Rim Uprising trailer before the movie releases next year.
