Across its two-season run, the hit Hulu show Castle Rock brought plenty of chills, thrills, and Stephen King nostalgia to its fans, as its cast created a linked world of the author's characters and concepts. Both seasons of the show are linked but contain very different plotlines focusing on very different characters.
As such, a lot of actors have passed through the titular Maine town, and all of these Castle Rock alumni have exciting projects on the horizon in the worlds of television and film. Fans can look forward to seeing some of these actors in a very different light as their careers continue past Castle Rock's spooky legacy.
André Holland (Henry Matthew Deaver)
Since his fateful return to Castle Rock as Henry Deaver, André Holland has several upcoming projects for fans to look forward to. Just last year, he returned to television for the Paris-set Netflix musical miniseries The Eddy, in which he played the lead character.
The Moonlight actor will also star alongside Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga in the upcoming historical drama film Passing, based on the novel by Nella Larsen. Passing will release on Netflix later this year and follows a pair of Black women, who become slowly obsessed with each other and their ability to pass as white.
Bill Skarsgård (The Kid/The Angel)
After portraying the enigmatic figures of The Kid in season 1 and The Angel in season 2, Bill Skarsgård has several upcoming roles in both TV and the movies. First, he stars alongside John Boyega and Olivia Cooke in the crime drama Naked Singularity, based on Sergio De La Pava's novel.
Skarsgård will also star in this year's Swedish crime drama, Clark, as the title character. He has also been cast in several other upcoming films, including Emperor, Gilded Rage, and The Things They Carried (based on the classic Vietnam War story collection), which are in various stages of production.
Melanie Lynskey (Molly Strand)
As telepathic local Molly Strand, Melanie Lynskey added Castle Rock to an already lengthy list of credits, and her next projects are just as exciting for fans. Recently, she appeared on the miniseries Mrs. America as Rosemary Thomson and had a part on a pair of Young Sheldon episodes.
Coming up in television, Lynskey is set to appear in Yellowjackets, a story that sees several high schoolers stranded after a plane crash, later this year. She is also set to appear in comedic genre films Don't Look Up (the latest from socially conscious director Adam McKay) and Lady Of The Manor.
Jane Levy (Diane “Jackie” Torrance)
After making an impression as the niece of the notorious King character, Jack Torrance, Jane Levy has gone on to play several other roles on both film and TV. This includes appearances in the film The Pretenders and a lead role on Netflix's thriller series What/If.
More recently, though, fans can find Levy starring as the titular Zoey in NBC's musical comedy series Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist alongside Skylar Astin, Alex Newell, and Mary Steenburgen.
Sissy Spacek (Ruth Deaver)
Of course, Sissy Spacek is most known to King fans as the title character in 1976's Carrie, but in Castle Rock, she was the keeper of many of the town's secrets (and Henry's mother), Ruth Deaver. Since her stint on the show, Spacek has appeared in a few projects, including the first season of Amazon show Homecoming.
Moving forward, Spacek will star in the Amazon sci-fi drama series Lightyears alongside sitcom icon Ed O'Neill. The show will follow Spacek and O'Neill as Franklin and Irene, a couple who find a strange chamber in their yard that leads them to another planet.
Lizzy Caplan (Annie Wilkes)
Taking on the iconic role of Annie Wilkes (originated by Kathy Bates in Misery), Lizzy Caplan will be remembered by fans as the center of Castle Rock's second season. Caplan's career, however, has and continues to stretch across many films and television series beyond the King-inspired show.
Recently, Caplan starred as twin sisters in the first season of crime series, Truth Be Told alongside Octavia Spencer, who plays a true-crime podcast host investigating a murder. Soon, she will star with Anthony Starr and Cleopatra Coleman in Cobweb.
Paul Sparks (John “Ace” Merrill)
Ace is a central figure in season 2's major storylines (as well as several King stories), especially after his death, and the character was brought to life by Boardwalk Empire actor Paul Sparks. Sparks' career will continue in the realms of both television and cinema, with a pair of upcoming projects.
First, Sparks is set to star in Apple TV+'s new aerobics-centered dramedy Physical, which will also feature Rose Byrne and Rory Scovel also in main roles. He will also star in a drama film alongside Bruce Dern entitled Hands That Bind, of which little is currently known.
Barkhad Abdi (Abdi Howlwadaag)
One of the Somali siblings raised by Pop, Abdi Howlwadaag's rivalry with his adoptive brother Ace helps kick off much of the conflict in Castle Rock's second season. Captain Phillips star Barkhad Abdi, who portrayed the Howlwadaag brother, has also got more film roles lined up soon.
Abdi is set to star in inspirational sports drama Tyson's Run, and will feature Major Dodson and Amy Smart. The upcoming Mel Gibson CIA thriller Agent Game will also feature Abdi.
Yusra Warsama (Dr. Nadia Howlwadaag)
Dr. Nadia Howlwadaag is Abdi's sister and plays a key part in her brother's story, as well as the arcs of Annie, Joy, and Chris in Castle Rock. Yusra Warsama, the actress who portrays Nadia, actually has a relatively young career, with her first television appearance being in 2011's TV movie Stolen.
Currently, Warsama is not slated to be in any new television or feature films, but she will star in a short film due out this July in the UK. Entitled A Birthday Party, this short centers on twin sisters who have a relationship-altering disagreement over a cultural rite of passage.
Elsie Fisher (Joy Wilkes)
Fans of Castle Rock who were familiar with Misery were likely holding their breath for the whole second season awaiting the inevitable fate of Joy Wilkes, who does not appear in the original film or novel. Eighth Grade star Elsie Fisher portrayed Joy, and this young actress' career shows no signs of slowing.
Continuing her horror streak, Fisher is set to have a main role in this year's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a sequel to the original film. Later in 2021, she will appear in Shoot The Rooster and 25 Cents Per Minute, and she has also been cast in The Shaggs, My Best Friend's Exorcism, and Latchkey Kids.
Matthew Alan (Chris Merrill)
A Merrill clan member and brother to the sinister Ace, Matthew Alan plays Chris Merrill, who is at the crossroads of the Merrill family's conflict and ends up ensconced in the Jerusalem's Lot cult.
Some people may also recognize Alan for his work on FX's historical crime drama Snowfall, where he plays Havemeyer, a CIA officer. However, as of right now, Alan does not have any other projects lined up that fans have heard about yet, but his recent television success is a good sign for the future.
Tim Robbins (Reginald "Pop" Merrill)
The patriarch of the Merrills and father figure to both Abdi and Nadia, Pop's influence looms large over Castle Rock in its second season. Fittingly, then, iconic actor Tim Robbins, known for his starring role in King adaptation The Shawshank Redemption, played Pop, and the future of his career shows promise.
As of right now, Robbins only has one announced project on the way: Amazon's supernatural drama The Power. Based on the book by Naomi Alderman, The Power follows a group of teenage girls who discover a strange power, and will feature an all-star cast including Auli'i Cravalho, Rob Delaney, and Leslie Mann.
