An impressive cast plays out a story of action and political intrigue in the Apple TV Plus military thriller Echo 3. The series tells the story of Amber Chesborough, an American national kidnapped by rebels on the Colombia-Venezuela border. Amber’s brother Bambi and new husband Prince are crack special forces operatives on the same elite team, but a mission gone awry has created a rift between the two. Now, with Amber missing and the US government failing to act, the two must head to South America themselves, not knowing that they’re about to be caught in the middle of a secret war.
Echo 3 was created by Oscar-winning screenwriter Mark Boal, whose previous work includes The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty. Based on the Israeli series When Heroes Fly created by Omri Givon and the novel of the same name by Amir Guttfreund, Echo 3 cuts the central crew of soldiers from four in the original novel to just two, and casts two movie stars in the roles. The Echo 3 main cast is rounded out by an impressive ensemble of accomplished character actors and TV stars.
Michiel Huisman (Eric “Prince” Haas) - The Haunting Of Hill House
Michiel Huisman plays Prince, Amber’s newlywed husband and the son of a rich, manipulative father in Echo 3. Haunted by a life lost for his sake during a mission that went awry, Prince clashes with his new brother-in-law Bambi, but is still willing to put his resentments aside to recover his wife. Huisman is best known for his starring role in Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House, in which he plays novelist Steven Crain. The actor also played Daenerys Targaryen’s love interest Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones and another soldier, Ellis, in World War Z. He is confirmed to be starring in Zack Snyder’s 2023 film Rebel Moon.
Luke Evans (Alex “Bambi” Chesborough) - Fast & Furious Franchise
In the Echo 3 cast, Luke Evans plays Bambi, Amber’s brother who acted as her protector all throughout their traumatic childhood. Evans is a Welsh actor best known for his starring roles as Vlad the Impaler in Dracula Untold, Bard the Bowman in the Hobbit films, and as villains Owen Shaw in the Fast & Furious franchise and Gaston in Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast remake. He appeared in another military role as Lieutenant Commander Wade McClusky in the war film Midway. On TV, Evans is known for his starring roles as newspaper illustrator John Moore on The Alienist and the shady Lars Lee in Nine Perfect Strangers.
Jessica Ann Collins (Amber Chesborough) - Revolution
A wife to Prince and sister to Bambi, Amber is an industrious, persistent scientist who is kidnapped while on a trip to study psychedelics in Colombia; she is also subcontracted to the CIA, and she is played by Jessica Ann Collins in the Echo 3 cast. Collins' filme roles include Annie in the Matthew McConaughey film Free State of Jones and Debbie in another military thriller written by Boal, Zero Dark Thirty. The actress also stars as Emma Beesly in streaming series Clickbait and as Cynthia in the post-apocalyptic action series Revolution.
Martina Gusmán (Violeta Ortiz) - The Innocent
Played by Martina Gusmán in Echo 3, Violeta Matiz is a reporter who follows the story of Amber’s kidnapping at the request of her husband. She is briefly imprisoned alongside Amber, an ordeal she has experienced before. Violeta has a radio show which she uses for leverage. Gusmán is an Argentinian actress with a prolific track-record of Spanish-language projects, which includes the role of Kimmy Dale on Netflix’s The Innocent, Emma in The Marginal, and Susana in The Year of Fury. She also played Mar in the English-language Ed Harris thriller Get Away If You Can.
James Udom (Mitch) - Judas And The Black Messiah
James Udom is Mitch in the Echo 3 cast, a CIA agent torn between his duty to his country and his desire to help rescue his friend, Amber. Udom’s film career has seen him play Compton in the Oscar-winning Judas and The Black Messiah and Seyton in The Tragedy of Macbeth, another Apple TV Plus original. On TV, Udom plays Garry Fletcher in Netflix’s The Sandman and has appeared on the other side of law enforcement, playing criminals Cam Barlow and Leon Fuller in Chicago P.D. and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, respectively.
Elizabeth Anweis (Natalie Foster) - Batwoman
In the Echo 3 cast, Elizabeth Anweis plays the CIA station chief for Colombia, Natalie Foster, with whom Bambi has a romantic past. Anweis is known for playing the villainous Catherine Hamilton Kane on the CW’s Batwoman, alongside small roles like Abbie in Twin Peaks and Mary-Marie Parks and Recreation. The actress has also played several characters who work in the medical profession, including nurses in Pretty Little Liars and The Young and The Restless, The Mortician in Westworld and Dr. Hina Komatsu in 9-1-1.
Maria Del Rosario (Graciela) - The Stolen Daughter
Maria Del Rosario is Graciela, a young rebel leader who coordinates resistance operations from the university. She’s passionate, dangerous and eager to prove herself. Del Rosario is a Colombian actress who has appeared in several Spanish-language productions including as La Grilla in The Stolen Daughter, Vicky in The Scent of Passion and Adela in Netflix’s Bolívar: Una Lucha Admirable.

Bradley Whitford As Eric Haas II: Bradley Whitford plays Prince’s snobbish, wealthy father who disapproves of his son’s military career and attempts to manipulate him in the Echo 3. Whitford is an accomplished character actor best known for his roles as Josh Lyman on political drama The West Wing and as the villainous Dean Armitage in Get Out.
Juan Pablo Raba As Ernest Matiz: Ernesto Matiz is Violeta’s husband who calls on his wife to help him find Amber using her connections and journalistic know-howm and he's played by Juan Pablo Raba in the Echo 3 cast. Raba stars in another military thriller series, Six as Buddha Ortiz. He also plays Gustavo Gaviria in Narcos and real-life figure Darío Segovia in The 33, a film about the 33 trapped Chilean miners.
Franka Potente as Hildy: In the Echo 3 cast, Franka Potente plays Hildy, a prisoner with an undiagnosed mental condition whom Amber befriends while imprisoned. Potente is a German actress best known as Jason Bourne’s romantic partner Marie Kreutz in The Bourne Identity and as Lola in the international crime thriller Run Lola Run.
Temuera Morrison as Roy Lennon: A New Zealand operative who works with Bambi and Tomas, Roy Lennon helps the duo on a rogue mission, and he's played by Temuera Morrison. Morrison is best known for playing Jango and Boba Fett in the Star Wars franchise, and as Aquaman’s father, Tom Curry, in Aquaman.
Sofia Buenaventura As Fami: Played by Sofia Buenaventura, Fami is Graciela’s girlfriend and a fellow rebel, but one who is less sure about the cause. Buenaventura also played Rambo in Monos, a critically acclaimed Colombian film about child soldiers.
Javier Rosado As Julian: Javier Rosado plays Julian in the Echo 3 cast. This is his first acting credit, but he performed stunts in The Queen of Spain.
Alejandro Furth As Tomas: Alejandro Furth plays Tomas, a Venezuelan bureaucrat who seeks to find out why Amber is in Venezuela and to record her saying disparaging things about the US, in Echo 3. Furth has also played journalist Roman Salgado on Narcos: Mexico and acting student Antonio Manuel in Barry.
Vicente Peña as Tariq Marwan: Tariq Marwan is a powerful, corrupt Venezuelan minister and Tomas’ boss, and he's played by Vicente Peña in the Echo 3 cast. Peña is an actor known primarily for Spanish-language roles such as Àngel Saavedra in the series El Comandante and Mendieta in El Amparo.
Carlos Bardem as Colonel Pereira: A Colombian National Army Colonel tasked with leading a mission to rescue the hostages, Colonel Pereira is played by Carlos Bardem. Bardem is Spanish actor who has appeared in numerous Spanish-language films including Cell 211 as Apache and Carlomonte in Scorpion in Love. He also appears as Benedicto in the blockbuster video game adaptation Assassin’s Creed.
Fahim Fazli as Jabar: Fahim Fazli plays Jabar, an Al-Qaeda commander who appears in the first episode of Echo 3. Fazli has appeared in several war films including 12 Strong, Kandahar and American Sniper.
