Andor could have multiple seasons, according to Alan Tudyk. Andor is one of the many Star Wars series coming to Disney+ next year. The series is a prequel to the hit film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and follows the hero Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) during the formative years of the rebellion.

Andor is currently filming in London with director Toby Hayes at the helm. Genevieve O'Reilly returns as rebellion leader Mon Mothma alongside Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Kyle Soller, Fiona Shaw, and Denise Gough in unknown roles. The series is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ in 2022 and it might be around for more than one season according to a Rogue One star.

In an interview with Collider, Tudyk, who played K-2SO in Rogue One, confirmed he will not be returning in Andor, at least not right away. The droid doesn’t factor into the story they have crafted for this season, but that further down the line fans may get to see how K-2SO came into Cassian’s possession. Tudyk's comments indicate there will be multiple seasons for Andor. Tudyk said:

“I'm going to be in the show. It's just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn't involve K-2SO until later on... I can't be too specific, but I can definitely say that I'm not going to be in the first season.”

This is the first confirmation that Disney+ plans for Andor are a long-running series in the vein of The Mandalorian, as opposed to a limited series like the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi or Ahsoka. Andor is also set to have twelve episodes in its first season, four more episodes than each of the two seasons of The Mandalorian. If the show continues past one season with twelve episodes each, that opens up the possibility for stories with Cassian to connect with various corners of the Star Wars universe.

Cassian Andor is a character who represents the darker side of the Rebellion, so his series also could feature encounters with various characters from the criminal underworld of the Star Wars universe, including working with bounty hunters, smugglers, and even crime bosses. With it looking unlikely we will see a Solo sequel, Andor could also be used to tie up story threads leftover from that film and show what happened to Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) and how Darth Maul went from the head of Crimson Dawn to stranded on Malachor in Star Wars: Rebels.

Andor is set to take place five years before the events of Rogue One, putting it in the transition period between the Reign of the Empire and The Rise of the Rebellion in the Star Wars timeline. Taking place five years before the original trilogy means the series will be taking place congruent with Star Wars: Rebels. This opens the possibility for Cassian to encounter live-action incarnations of Rebels characters. Chopper had a cameo in Rogue One, and there was an audio easter egg for General Hera Sendula, so Cassian most likely knows of their existence. With The Mandalorian teasing the fate of Grand Admiral Thrawn and rumors circulating that they will be casting actors to play Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren in Ashoka, there is a chance these characters could appear in Andor to help further connect the Star Wars series on Disney+ together.
