The second episode of the sophomore season of Car Masters: Rust to Riches starts off with a bang. Literally. When last we saw The Gotham Garage gang, Mark Towle just found out that a tow truck crashed into the 1953 Buick his mechanics have been working on. The car is totaled.

In the first season of this exciting automobile makeover show the Car Masters worked hard to build their business, pool their money and open a new shop. It is heartbreaking to watch their season 2 journey start out with such a setback. Every viewer knows what it is like to pour your heart into something. Seeing these mechanics have their hard work crushed is tough to take. Constance Nunes, one of the most popular mechanics on the show looks like she is near tears.

Towle laments that this is going to cost their new garage a lot of money. He explains that this will have lost them multiple deals and tens of thousands of dollars in future profit. They do their best to salvage the deal, but the Buick buyer completely turns his back on them. Towle delivers a message to the camera about how his group of mechanics will not let this deter them. He hatches a plan to remodel a Harley and get some money coming into the shop.

While the mechanics work on the very gnarly Harley, Shawn, the Deal Maker, strikes up a bargain to obtain a 1969 Ford Mustang. The Mustang is their trade car. They buy it for $8,000 and they are hoping to get somewhere around $50,000 for it. This has Constance Nunes thrilled. She loves Mustangs so Mark gives her the lead on this project. Normally Gotham Garage takes undesirable cars and makes them into winners, but with this very cool Mustang model, they're simply putting their unique stamp on the vehicle. Nunes gets a huge motor for $7,500, which she claims will give way more value to the car when they trade it.

The show takes us back to the b-plot with the Harley the team needs to sell. The mechanics turn this motorcycle into a sick, bright green ride. Their goal is to sell this new bike to actually get some money into the shop. After the Buick crash, they have not seen a payday in over 3 weeks! They need to sell this vehicle for somewhere around $30,000. Shawn is a smart salesman so he offers the bike for $35,000. They sell the Harley for $28,500 and it is wildly satisfying to watch. Whether or not you're a big car person, you really route for the Gotham Garage gang.

The next step is the big sell of the episode - the Ford Mustang. The crew has created something truly stellar with their remodel of the Mustang, but the buyer really stiff-arms them for price. After a tense conversation, Mark and Shawn decide the deal is not worth it with this particular buyer. The episode leaves us hanging as Mark and Shawn head back to the shop to tell the employees the deal did not happen. We have to tune into to episode 3 to see if they can sell it for what they need.
