Captain Marvel's Brie Larson casually opened up about wanting to be a Jedi, and Star Wars personally responded to her. Both existing under the Disney umbrella - though in two very different cinematic universes - both Captain Marvel and Star Wars: Episode IX are releasing this year, so some playful cross-promotion is to be expected.

Both Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm are releasing breakthrough films in 2019. For Marvel Studios, Captain Marvel is a major game-changer, being the first female-led standalone film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For Lucasfilm, Star Wars: Episode IX is not only the closing chapter in the current Star Wars trilogy, but is also  closing the book on the Skywalker saga. Now, with anticipation growing - even though Star Wars has a solid nine months till its release, while Captain Marvel is right around the corner - Brie Larson is showing some enthusiasm about the galaxy far, far away, specifically referring to her Captain Marvel co-star Samuel L. Jackson, who played Jedi Master Mace Windu in George Lucas' prequel trilogy.

During an interview with EW, Larson opened up about her hands-on experience with the Star Wars universe, referring to the time Jackson brought his lightsaber prop to the set of Captain Marvel. She explained that Jackson let her hold the prop, which ended up making Larson cry. She said, "It was so cool. I wanna be a Jedi." The official Twitter account for Star Wars then tweeted her quote, and responded by saying, "The Force is definitely with you, Captain." Larson later responded to the tweet, saying, "Honored to be an intergalactic hero with you." Check out the tweet below:

Though Captain Marvel and Star Wars exist in very different universes, they've actually been dealing with some real-life issues in regard to early fan reactions. Before any audiences have even seen the films, both have earned negative ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Though Rotten Tomatoes has attempted to fix this sort of problem, restructuring their audience rating system after Captain Marvel was trolled with negative audience reviews, the system has hardly been perfected.

On a more positive note, though, regardless of what internet trolls might think, the excitement surrounding both Captain Marvel and Star Wars: Episode IX is potent, as both films are pushing their respective franchises into new directions. Whether or not those new directions end up officially inviting Larson into the Star Wars universe remains to be seen, but given what both franchises have put out so far,  anything is possible.
