Captain Marvel Set Video Teases Train Fight; Gemma Chan Starts Filming

Captain Marvel Movie New Logo

WARNING – Mild spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War

A new set video and images show Brie Larson filming a train-top stunt for Captain Marvel, while Gemma Chan begins production on the movie. If fans weren't already excited for the debut of Captain Marvel in the MCU next year, Avengers: Infinity War ratcheted up the buzz for the movie. Though Brie Larson doesn't show up in the film, the end credits scene teases her arrival next year when Nick Fury sends her a signal (on a modified pager, no less). Not only does the scene promise Captain Marvel will fight Thanos in Avengers 4, but it hints at the connection Carol Danvers will have with Fury in her origin film.

With filming underway for Captain Marvel, we've already seen some surprising things from the set. The first came when the film's Kree-inspired costume was revealed, teasing what Captain Marvel's final suit will look like. Since that time, we've seen more from the '90s set film, including Nick Fury with both eyes. Now, the latest dispatches from the set tease some of the action while introducing a new actor to the fold.

Twitter user @P_ACasas captured a video of Brie Larson in her green suit filming a scene for Captain Marvel today, while images from @aaronfraggle provide more context for the action. Set atop a train car, Larson squares off against an unidentified opponent. Take a look at the video and photos in the tweets below:

Given Captain Marvel can fly, making a train-top fight a bit odd, this could be early on when she doesn't have full control over her powers. We don't yet know how Danvers' evolution will play out in the movie, but Kevin Feige has said Captain Marvel is a unique origin story that will be unlike anything Marvel has done.

As exciting as it will be for Carol Danvers to come to the big screen, the movie also promises to bring lots of names over from the comics and pull back in several familiar faces from the MCU. Clark Gregg will be digitally de-aged for the film, and it's likely Samuel L. Jackson will be as well. Plus, fans are still hoping Hayley Atwell will show up as Peggy Carter during her later years at S.H.I.E.L.D. We'll have to wait for that announcement, but another key actor began filming on the movie yesterday.

Gemma Chan (Humans) will play the Kree Minn-Erva in the film. Of course, she'll be disguised as Doctor Minerva before then, just as Jude Law will likely disguise the fact that he's Kree as well. But while Mar-Vell will end up helping Danvers, Minn-Erva is likely to follow her comic book counterpart and become a foe of Earth's Mightiest Hero. With Captain Marvel's release coming up fast, hopefully we'll know more soon.
