The latest set photos for Captain Marvel show star Brie Larson being put through her paces as part of some military training. Though Captain Marvel won't appear in Avengers: Infinity War when it arrives next month (at least, not outside of a post-credits scene), she will be headlining her own solo Marvel Cinematic Universe movie in about a year. Having nearly joined the MCU a few times already, Carol Danvers will be featured front and center in her own film - one that finds her in the middle of an intergalactic war, back in the 1990s.
Since neither Captain Marvel - a powerful superhero in her own right - nor the Kree-Skrull War have been mentioned in the MCU before now, there's a fan theory that Captain Marvel takes place in an alternate timeline and thus, an alternate version of the MCU in the '90s. Everyone will have to wait until 2019 to find out if that's the case or not, but in the meantime leaked photos from the film's set have been giving fans plenty to discuss and speculate about. That continues with today's pics, which show Larson training hard in-character.
Just Jared has the latest set photos from the Captain Marvel production. These images, which you can check out at the link in the Twitter post embedded below, show Carol Danvers in what appear to be bootcamp or basic training for the Air Force - as she works her way up a rope.
There's nothing else revealed in these photos besides Larson's physical transformation over the past year into a pilot and superhero, but it does confirm that Captain Marvel will show Danvers working her way up the military ladder. The film is further expected to cover her time training as a pilot and excelling in the field, before gaining her superpowers and fighting in an intergalactic war alongside S.H.I.E.L.D.
Larson and her costar Lashana Lynch were also spotted dressed for the '90s on the Captain Marvel set, earlier this week. Lynch took over her role from DeWanda Wise and is assumed to be playing Monica Rambeau in the film, but for the time being that remains unconfirmed. It's possible that future photo and video leaks from the Captain Marvel set will shed some light on the matter, in addition to revealing even more of Carol Danvers' rigorous military training regime in the movie.
