Samuel L. Jackson is in awe of Brie Larson's workout regimen for Captain Marvel. Marking his return at the MCU forefront after 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, the actor is back to reprise his role as Nick Fury in the upcoming period superhero film, effectively becoming the link that would tie Carol Danvers to the current set of Avengers. Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the Marvel Studios project will take fans back to 1995, where the movie is said to be set in the franchise's timeline.
Fury did make a brief stint at the end-tag for Avengers: Infinity War with just enough time for him to send a distress signal to Captain Marvel before disintegrating into dust due to Thanos' deadly snap - a great lead-in to what's going to go down in the next MCU film installment. Given the time setting of the movie, fans will reunite with a young still two-eyed Fury alongside Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson, and based on what's been revealed so far about the project's narrative, chances are that the public will soon find out how he eventually loses his left eye.

Screen Rant visited the set of Captain Marvel, where Jackson talked extensively about Larson's intense workouts in preparation for her debut superhero role. Much like her fans who regularly sees her workout videos, Jackson is nothing but impressed with the way Larson has fully embraced the challenge of being physically fit to take on the part.
Samuel L. Jackson: Physical demands? Whew. Um, lemme see… I think about a year ago, Brie started working out. And the girl that I did Kong and Unicorn Store with is not this person. She's like 5 percent body fat now. She used to send me workout videos, which were like, crazy dope workout videos. The first one she sent me, she was lifting… like a hundred pounds. She was doing this thing with the waist-lift, about a hundred pounds. The last one she sent me was 350. She does chin-ups. And she sent me a video of her pushing a Jeep up a hill. It's pretty amazing stuff. She's made a distinct transformation that I don't think a lot of people would be willing to do. It's a huge commitment to do stuff like that.
When I was doing Tarzan with Alexander, he would come to work at like 4 in the morning, and go work out. Then he would eat, and then he would do his cardio, and then we would start to shoot. And every time they said Cut, somebody was putting a weight in his hand. He was doing curls, or he was doing push-ups.
Brie's sort of like that, at this point in her development, that she can actually do all of that stuff. It's kind of crazy.
[Pulling out phone] That's the Jeep. [On video: "Go! Go! Keep going, keep going! Go.] That's her pushing a Jeep up a hill. ["Keep going, keep going, keep going. Right there… Yep, yep. You got it, let's go!" [[Sounds of Brie groaning as she pushes]] You got it, let's go, you got it, it's moving!"
When asked whether or not Larson attempted to convince him to join her workout sessions, Jackson said no. But he does maintain keep himself in shape which is especially needed during long filming days by doing pilates.
No, I have an age limit. I'm done with all of that. I go to pilates. I only push my body weight. I don't mess with any other weights.
[Shows another video of her lifting with Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" blaring in background]
Got it going on! Yeah, I'm impressed with what she's doing."
The fact that Jackson has worked with Larson for a couple of times in the past adds merit to his words knowing that he's seen her prepare for a role before but nothing like this scale. Add to that he's been around many actors who play superheroes on the big screen like Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans having been in the MCU since it started, and it just makes Larson's commitment to the role much more impressive. It's no secret that the actress was hesitant at first to sign up for Captain Marvel considering that she would need to be bound by a multi-film contract, but seeing all her workout videos coupled with Jackson gushing about her preparation process, safe to say that Larson is 100 percent committed to this role.
