There's never been a better time to be a fan of Marvel Comics and their vast stable of characters. Not only does the publisher continue to turn out exciting and inventive stories on the page, but they've offered fans an ever-growing stream of TV shows and movies to further explore their heroes and villains. On the big screen, Marvel has eight projects on the horizon, but the furthest one out is still the most unknown quantity. While Captain Marvel has a 2019 release date, a pair of writers in Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Megan LeFauve (Inside Out), and will star Brie Larson (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), Marvel has been in no rush to announce a director.

That will likely change soon, as the film is reportedly going to begin filming early next year. To make its release date, and considering how much post-production the cosmic caper is likely to feature, that timeline makes sense. Though the project is still a ways out, fans are still hoping for some idea of what the movie will feature and how Larson will look suited up. Thanks to fan art from BossLogic, we got a good idea last year of how she could appear. Now, he's given us a taste of her in action.

BossLogic took to Twitter to offer up some concept art of Larson as Captain Marvel leading a squadron of fighter jets. Fans will no doubt be excited to see this nod to Carol Danvers role in the Air Force, one that's likely to see the military and Cap collaborating in her solo film. Check out the art below.

There's no word yet on the plot of the film or even what enemies Carol will face, but Nicole Perlman has spoken about the unique challenges of writing Marvel's first headlining female superhero. Cap may not be alone, either, as Samuel L. Jackson recently let loose that he might appear in Captain Marvel as part of his extensive contract. In the meantime, Larson has been outspoken about taking on the role, even if she can't offer any details.

She's touched on the fanbase of Captain Marvel and the responsibility of playing such an iconic character. She's also let it be known that Carol will serve as the bridge between Earth and the cosmos, a role she often has in the comics. She's even spoken about whether Carol will rock her recent and already infamous mohawk, something BossLogic has also given us a glimpse of on Larson. With the film still a year out from shooting, these little bits of news are likely all we'll get until at least Comic Con this summer. Until then, stay tuned for all things Captain Marvel.
