Teyonah Parris has been spotted in London ahead of filming for The Marvels, the highly anticipated sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel. Parris first debuted as Monica Rambeau in Disney+'s first MCU series, WandaVision, but the character of Monica made her first Marvel appearance in the 2019 film as a young girl. Initially, the series tried to hide the identity of Parris' character, but fans were able to deduce the character she was playing rather quickly. Although WandaVision served as a meditation on Wanda Maximoff's grief after losing Vision, it pulled double duty as an origin story for Monica Rambeau.

Working for S.W.O.R.D., Monica infiltrates the Westview Hex in the hopes of figuring out what or who is behind the mysterious events in the New Jersey town. During this, Monica ends up gaining her own superpowered abilities. It is still unclear which hero Monica will become, as there are several different iterations of the character in the comic books. Many believe that Monica has become Spectrum, although the final answer will likely be revealed when The Marvels is released.

With a late-2022 debut set for the sequel, filming has begun on The Marvels and now the principal cast is gearing up for the bulk of production. Parris posted on her Instagram story (via @parrisfiles) that she was in London. Although Parris herself isn't in the video, and it gives no hints as to whether or not she is currently filming, the actress tagged the location as Notting Hill, London, close to where filming takes place. Brie Larson has also begun training for Captain Marvel 2, indicating that the main cast is gearing up for principal photography sometime soon. In addition to Larson and Parris, Iman Vellani's Captain Marvel will join them in the film after the debut of her own Disney+ series later this year. Zawe Ashton will play The Marvels' villain, while Park-seo Joon has also been cast in an undisclosed role.

Much of the plot surrounding The Marvels remains a mystery. WandaVision's post-credits scene gave a hint as to where it could go, indicating that the Skrulls would still be involved. The Disney+ series also hinted at some unresolved issues between Monica and Carol Danvers, with Parris' character clearly having some sore feelings towards the MCU hero. How this will all tie together remains to be seen, but The Marvels will surely be jam packed with revelations as the MCU moves deeper into its Phase 4 slate.
