Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Captain America: Symbol of Truth #7

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Captain America: Symbol of Truth, Steve Rogers' adopted son has finally returned as Nomad. While it was widely believed that he had died, Ian Rogers has been revealed to be alive and well while secretly working for the U.S Government. Now, Ian is working with Sam Wilson's Captain America in this new issue (while also teasing a future reunion with his father).

During Steve Rogers' harrowing years in Dimension Z (where time went much slower than in Marvel's main reality), Captain America saved and adopted Arnim Zola's son. Originally named Leopold, Steve renamed him Ian and raised him as his own, though Ian carried a dark and rebellious streak Captain America worked hard to help him control. Eventually, Steve and Ian both made it back to Earth-616. Taking the name Nomad as a young man (a past moniker of Steve's), Ian would go on to work with Sam Wilson's Captain America. However, it was believed he had died in an explosion during a battle with Baron Zemo.

Now, the new Captain America: Symbol of Truth #7 from Tochi Onyebuchi and Ig Guara sees Sam Wilson reuniting with Ian to end a civil war in the nation of Mohannda. Naturally, Sam is taken completely by surprise that Ian is still alive, and Nomad confirms he's been working to eliminate a list of Hydra cells for the government. However, he also reveals that Bucky Barnes is the only one who knew and that Steve "will find out on his own time". Regardless, Nomad certainly takes after his dad in this new issue, seeing as how he jumps out of a plane without a parachute.

When Will Marvel's Nomad Reunite With Captain America?

Captain America's Son Ian In Symbol Of Truth

With Marvel's crossover between Sam and Steve's respective Captain America series on the horizon, it stands to reason that Rogers will reunite with his son during the upcoming Cold War event. Likewise, the issue might be teasing that Nomad will be working for the Winter Soldier who's recently joined the Outer Circle as the Revolution. As seen in Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty, Bucky is hoping to dismantle the shadow organization after the reveal that they were behind the creation of both Captain America and the Winter Soldier himself, made to be secret pawns in their Century Game.

As it stands, perhaps Bucky will bring Ian into the fold as someone he can trust who's also comfortable getting his hands dirty. This would certainly be opposed to Captain America who desperately didn't want Bucky to be in this potentially compromising new role (and would be even less enthused about his adopted son joining him). At any rate, the inevitable reunion between Captain America and Nomad will certainly be memorable in the issues to come. Captain America: Symbol of Truth #7 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
