The Captain America film series is one of the strongest trilogies of the MCU, but it hasn't ended yet, as Captain America: New World Order starts filming in early 2023. A surprising amount has already been revealed about the upcoming fourquel, including many of the returning characters, the villain, and the title gives a lot away too.

However, given that it's an MCU movie, there'll undoubtedly be cameos and appearances from other Marvel heroes, and Redditors have some high expectations and demands. Between introducing mutants, bringing back Chris Evans, and setting up future MCU releases, Reddit users aren't asking for much.

New World Order Should Introduce Mutants

RantyMcRanter1 wants the Captain America sequel to introduce mutants. The Redditor comments, "They should introduce more anti-hero/mutants government characters" It's possible, as there are already MCU characters who could be revealed as mutants, such as Wanda, Peter Parker, and America Chavez.

However, not many possible mutants are in the Captain America series, especially not Captain America: New World Order. Of the characters confirmed to be in the fourquel, not one of them has any kind of mutant power. Not even the new Captain America has the super serum in his veins. So while fans are impatiently waiting for the mutants to show up, it's unlikely to happen in New World Order.

Serpent Society Should Appear In New World Order

The Serpent Society gathers in a Marvel Comic

It was confirmed at D23 that The Leader will be the villain in New World Order. The character was first introduced in The Incredible Hulk, making it the longest gap between a single character's appearance in the MCU. However, few MCU movies only have one villain these days, and Kwilly462 is hoping to see some more bad guys.

The Redditor posits, "Hoping the Serpent Society as the villain(s), but I doubt it." The Serpent Society is a gang of supervillains in the comic books, and they're often seen fighting Steve Rogers and the Falcon. Unfortunately, while even the most ludicrous Marvel characters have been referenced in the MCU, the Serpent Society hasn't been mentioned once, so it isn't very likely.

Chris Evans Should Return To The Captain America Franchise

Chris Evans runs as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Whether or not Chris Evans will return to the MCU has been heavily speculated ever since Avengers: Endgame, and XalonWOW hopes it'll happen in the fourth Captain America movie. In response to the movie's announcement, the Redditor notes, "I hope this means Chris Evans is coming back to play Cap."

This is something of a polarizing request, as some fans would love nothing more to see the actor in the role that he made iconic, but it could devalue his emotional ending in the 2019 movie. It could also ruin Sam's first outing as the hero if Marvel Studios brings back Evans the first chance it gets.

More U.S. Agent And Valentina In The Captain America Franchise

Mr_Roger_That thinks that U.S. Agent and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) should be involved in the movie in some capacity. Louis-Dreyfus randomly appearing in the MCU as a sort-of bizarro Nick Fury is one of the most exciting things to happen in Phase 4, and fans are wondering where Valentina could show up next.

It isn't completely clear what Valentina's plan is or how far into the dark side John Walker has fallen, but New World Order could explain that. U.S. Agent and Allegra had important roles in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, so it'd be hard to imagine that they don't even get so much of a mention in the movie that is effectively the Disney+ series' sequel.

New World Order Should Introduce Thunderbolts

New MCU Thunderbolts Team

ParamedicSpecific130 wants to see the movie set up Thunderbolts, which follows New World Order by just a few months. The Redditor explains, "Trigger the Thunderbolts into action, i.e. Val will use it as an excuse to push her new team." Thunderbolts seems the likeliest out of all the possible movies that New World Order could set up, as there's so much crossover with Captain America characters and they're extremely similar in tone.

The Thunderbolts is a crew of super spies that includes Yelena, Red Guardian, U.S. Agent, and even the Winter Soldier. Audiences will need to watch FatWS to understand Thunderbolts too, so there's likely going to be an appearance or two from some larger-than-life spies.

New World Order Shouldn't Set Up Other MCU Movies

Neoblackdragon has the exact opposite wish to those wanting mutants in the movie. The Redditor doesn't want the film to set up any future movie in the universe, noting, "We could have a Captain America movie be about Captain America and not be about the X-men. Let X-men introduce and address X-men plot lines."

It's a common criticism about the MCU, as most of the movies and Disney+ series simply exist to set up future movies, and this is especially the case with the Multiverse Saga so far, as every movie is so interwoven. Some audiences would have been completely lost watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness if they hadn't previously watched WandaVision. Though it doesn't seem like the film is leading into some other movie about the multiverse or introducing the mutants, it does sound more like a Thunderbolts prologue than an actual Captain America movie.

New World Order Should Fix The Captain America Suit

One of the most epic moments in the Disney+ MCU series was when Sam smashed through a building window dressed as the new Captain America. But fans unanimously agreed that there was something off about his outfit. Ake-TL wants the suit fixed for the upcoming movie, commenting, "I just hope they make his costume look less bulky and uncomfortable. And cooler, but that’s more subjective."

However, the Redditor didn't mention the biggest problem with the suit, which was that Sam's head was completely unprotected. It's the one thing that needs to be protected more than any other body part, but it was strangely left totally bare.

Luke Cage Should Show Up In New World Order

Luke Cage Season 2 Finale Mike Colter

Matt Murdock has already appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home and will lead Daredevil: Born Again, and Wilson Fisk was spotted in Hawkeye too. The MCU is slowly but surely bringing back all of the characters and their respective actors from the Netflix series, and Clintbridges wants to see Luke Cage next.

However, they want his appearance to be in New World Order, positing, "I kinda want Luke Cage to be in this." Though hoping for a Luke Cage appearance in the MCU at large is more than understandable, the character would be a little out of place in New World Order. The Captain America movie will be an espionage spy thriller, and Luke Cage is a less sleek and more gritty and grounded property.

New World Order Should Make Sam Take The Serum

Sam is the new Captain America, and with his wings and armored suit he's very much a superhero, but there's nothing super about him. And his stance on the serum was made clear in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as he was very much against it. But Danfunkb thinks it'd be fun if Sam took it anyway.

The Redditor explains, "Would love a version where they force it into him or trick him since he is so against it and he has to deal with the effects, could be interesting." That could make for an interesting catalyst and set the movie's events into motion. And as there's a large amount of Avengers that are simply men and women in super-powered suits, there isn't really any proper "superhero" in the MCU right now, but Sam taking the serum could change that.

New World Order Should Have Less Preaching

AlanatorTheGreat wants to see less preaching from Cap in New World Order, positing, "Let's hope he doesn't say 'the bad guys were right' at the end again." The Redditor is referring to the final scene in FatWS in which Sam defends the Flag Smashers' actions on live television. It's one of the strangest messages in the MCU and it was an absolutely incoherent monologue.

Sam sympathized with the Flag Smashers, claiming that they weren't the terrorists but that the government was. The Flag Smashers stole military property, killed tons of innocent people, and tried to overthrow throw government. For a bunch of people who aren't terrorists, they definitely act like terrorists.
