Here's why Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) is more powerful than you thought in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Evans first appeared as a skinny version of Steve in Captain America: The First Avenger, but it wasn't long before he received an injection of a super soldier serum created by Abraham Erskine that made him one of the greatest heroes the MCU has ever seen. Captain America quickly showed why he was selected to get this incredible power, as he would sacrifice his own life in order to stop Red Skull's plane.

Instead of dying, though, Captain America was merely frozen in ice for nearly 70 years and then found new life as an Avenger in the early 2010s. His heroic duties have led him to fight gods from other realms, aliens, sentient robots, and even his own friends, and each instance results in him using everything he's got to win. In fact, his will - or even his optimism - is one of the many reasons why Captain America is stronger than many may know.

Screen Rant's latest video takes a deep dive into Captain America's power set to explain just how powerful he really is. The super soldier serum is mostly responsible for his power, but his will is also a defining characteristic. Check out the full breakdown of Cap's abilities in the video featured at the top of this post, but be warned, the video and what comes after the photo below contains SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame.

Captain America Holding Back Thanos' Infinity Guantlet in Avengers Infinity War

His combination of super speed, super strength, and all-around fighting technique are put on full display in Avengers: Endgame, but it is the long-awaited moment of him finally picking up Mjolnir that further elevated Captain America's power. His worthiness to lift the hammer is another notch in his belt, and the combination of Mjolnir and his vibranium shield allow him to become a one-man wrecking crew - or at least one that is able to knock back Thanos a few times.

With all of the power that Steve Rogers had, it leaves Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) with even larger shoes to fill as the new Captain America. Sam does have his flight suit and the shield now, but he will be without the enhanced powers of the super soldier serum unless something changes. Maybe this is why he's being paired up with Bucky Barnes for Falcon & Winter Soldier, so the two of them can combine their abilities to fill the void left by Captain America.
