In a Halloween special and alternate timeline, Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man goes looking for his father's weapon - Captain America - in the hopes that the weapon will help him defeat his enemy Zeke Stane. But when he discovers Captain America in a tundra with the help of Deadpool and X-Men's Colossus, he makes the discovery that Cap resembles the creature from John Carpenter's film - The Thing - and it's enough to send chills down a reader's spine.

Marvel's Captain America is a fan favorite with his superhuman strength, moral compass, and heart of gold. Over the years, there have been different versions of Captain America and people who have become Cap such as Major Deadpool as well as Hawkeye and Bucky Barnes. There have even been times where Captain America had become a villain. In fact, in the Soska Sisters, Jonas Scharf and Jordan Boyd's story in Avengers Halloween Special, Captain America becomes one of Marvel's creepiest villains as he takes on the form of John Carpenter's famous alien - The Thing - and shoots tentacles from his stomach.

In the comic, Tony Stark begins to investigate his missing retrieval team that went digging in a tundra to find his father's frozen biological weapon - Captain America. The reason he is looking for the weapon is because his enemy - Zeke Stane - is trying to take over his corporation and he needs something to get rid of him. Because Tony doesn't want to venture into a tundra in a helicopter alone, he brings the dynamic duo - Deadpool and Colossus - along for the ride. Soon, they discover Captain America is already thawed and mobile. As Tony flies closer, Colossus and Deadpool drop down to immobilize Cap, but Cap's not willing to lay down his shield and surrender. He throws his shield into Colossus' head and kills him, then he grabs Deadpool and goes into a thawed military bunker. After Tony puts on his Iron Man suit, he goes into the bunker only to find the stuff of nightmares... Captain America is The Thing and is consuming Deadpool.

After he discovers Captain America is consuming Deadpool, Iron Man expels fire from his palms at him and Cap blocks the flames with his shield. As Tony continues to shoot flames at Cap, Deadpool's body begins to wiggle and tentacles begin to shoot out of his severed limbs. Tony incinerates Deadpool's body, which gives Captain America a chance to attack and damage Tony's power core. Although Tony's Iron Man suit is heavily damaged, he is willing to continue to fight to prevent Cap from taking the keys to the helicopter. Rather than continue to fight Tony, Cap sits by a fire and waits for him to freeze to death because he knows his body is used to the freezing temperatures and Tony's body is not.

Although Captain America is generally shown as the loving and heroic type; evidently, he can also be shown as a haunting and disturbing villain. Clearly, it's ann allusion to John Carpenter's film - The Thing - as Cap and Tony sit and wait in the frozen tundra the way MacReady and Childs do at the end of the film. One might anticipate that it might not work - considering Captain America's general image - but it does.
