Captain America is on his final mission to return the Infinity Stones after Avengers: Endgame in his new Disney+ series, as proposed in new fan art. After Thanos was defeated in Endgame, Steve was tasked with finishing the Avengers' remaining mission: return all the Infinity Stones back to their original location and setting from the time heist. Smart Hulk promised this to the Ancient One during their conversation about collecting the Time Stone from her in 2012 so as not to sabotage these other timelines.

This is a Captain America quest that didn't play out on screen. When Steve returns at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, he's already a centenarian who has lived his life with Peggy Carter back in the late '40s.  Still, many would like this particular bit of Steve's history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe tackled one way or another. Recently, there have been reports Chris Evans is in talks with Marvel Studios to reprise his role as Captain America. With this, many are theorizing how his return might play out.

Steve's quest is the inspiration behind spideyvegas' latest fan-poster. In it, Captain America is imagined to be in Vormir to return the Infinity Stones, particularly the Soul Stone. The one-sheet suggests this narrative will play out in a six-part Disney+ series, much like how Marvel Studios' small screen projects are formatted. Check it out below:

Unlike Iron Man and Black Widow, who also ended their arcs in Avengers: Endgame, Captain America is in a unique position to still come back to the MCU without any complexities considering he's still alive. In fact, this is not the only potential narrative for a Steve Rogers show on Disney+; there's also the interesting premise of seeing his life with Peggy Carter.

Either of these suggested shows can also fully resolve lingering questions about how exactly Captain America's final adventure played out in Avengers: Endgame. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have conflicting answers with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The directors have said Steve created a new timeline when he decided to stay with Peggy, while the latter theorize it's all in the same MCU continuity.

Whether these proposed scenarios have a chance to pan out or not is unknown thus far. Marvel Studios has a stacked line-up for the next several years, much more so after Phase 4 was significantly delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. So even if this post-Avengers: Endgame show for Captain America is an idea Kevin Feige and his team are considering, it might be a little while before it comes out.
