First appearing on the scene in 1941, Captain America has become one of the most recognizable comic book heroes in modern-day. Before his introduction in the MCU, 90% of the general movie-going audience might have had a hard time explaining who Captain America/Steve Rogers is and what his abilities are. 9 years and one long magnificent story arc later, you will struggle to walk down the street and find someone who hasn't heard of Captain America thanks to the MCU. Multiple times he has proved himself to be a worthy Avenger.

Fans love to pit Marvel against DC in almost everything now more than ever, including money made at the box office and who could defeat who from the opposing studio, that being said, let's take a look at 10 DC heroes and whether Cap would win or lose in an all-out battle.

Win Against: Green Arrow

The CW Arrow - Green Arrow Oliver Queen

Even though Hawkeye was on Cap's side in Captain America: Civil War, if the two were on opposing sides, it could definitely be argued that Cap would have the upper hand.

Transferring this over to Hawkeye's DC counterpart Green Arrow, yes, he has the pinpoint accuracy of a superhuman and is a very skilled fighter, but even with his worthiness to wield Mjolnir aside, Captain America would deflect a large majority of Oliver Queen's arrows with his shield and is versed in various forms of fighting such as boxing, kickboxing, and jujitsu amongst others.

Lose Against: Superman

Man of Steel 2 with Henry Cavill

Getting the obvious out of the way first, most fans will have no doubt Superman, and many other DC heroes, could easily overpower Cap with his super-speed alone. Even though Cap's shield is vibration absorbent, if Cap manages to lift his shield in time to block one of Superman's punches, it would only take a few more blows at super-speed coupled with his heat vision to push the energy-absorbing particles past their full capacity causing them and the shield to be destroyed/melted.

Also, in Avengers: Endgame, Thanos managed to knock Cap back a good distance using the force of his sword against his shield, imagine Superman hitting Cap's shield at full force, this would certainly take Cap down a big notch.

Win Against: Catwoman

Captain America would emerge victorious on a number of levels in this fight. His increased strength and Stamina alone would make him the winner in this battle compared to the human levels of both in Catwoman.

There is a solid argument for Catwoman managing to dodge several of Cap's attacks and she may even manage to steal Cap's shield without him noticing, but when it comes down to the fight, a few punches or kicks from Cap would leave Catwoman on the floor.

Lose Against: Shazam

The obvious argument here is that Shazam is nearly as powerful and has very similar abilities to Superman so on his natural abilities alone he would have very little issue fighting against Steve Rogers. However, even with those aside, even if Cap managed to get close to Shazam, all Shazam would have to do is say "Shazam!" and the bolt of lightning would leave Cap defeated (but hopefully just alive) on the ground. That being said, Billy Batson is still a kid underneath it all so would he think of this tactic with his younger mindset?

Even if Cap managed to wield Mjolnir, without the rest of Thor's godly abilities, it could be argued that if Cap just used a lightning strike it would have little to no effect on Shazam. Cap's only hope, in this case, would be to trap Shazam under Mjolnir long enough for his durability to wear off but with Shazam's super-speed, this is a monumental task on its own.

Win Against: Nightwing

DC Rebirth Nightwing

(Given the ongoing back and forth debate over who would win between Batman and Captain America, it's more appropriate to include Batman's protege Nightwing). While having many of Batman's gadgets at his disposal, Captain America's advantages in strength and combat styles mean that he would emerge victorious over Nightwing.

An argument could certainly be made that having being trained by Batman could give him a serious advantage but the differences between Batman's physical attributes and Nightwing's might be the difference between a win and a loss for Nightwing in the fight against Cap.

Lose Against: Green Lantern

Green Lantern's power ring gives him the ability to conjure almost anything that he desires at any given moment. It also gives him the ability to fly and has made some incredibly powerful weapons in the past. The power ring has created a fully functioning electric chair, a sniper rifle and even multiple versions of itself with the same powers as the original.

Even with Captain America's strength and shield, Green Lantern would be stronger and can create a shield 10 times the size with a single thought. Even the man out of time with all his willpower wouldn't be able to stand against 5 power rings.

Win Against: Black Canary

Much like Catwoman, Black Canary's human levels of strength and stamina make her a relatively easy opponent for Captain America.

That being said an argument could be made that Black Canary would use her sonic vocal ability to either shatter Cap's shield or send him flying a good distance, perhaps even render him temporarily deaf but even without his shield or his hearing, Black canary's sonic scream would eventually reach it's limits and Cap would defeat her in combat.

Lose Against: Dr. Fate

Doctor Fate holding a book in Injustice 2

Dr. Fate is up there with the most powerful DC heroes and has magic on his side, a feat that even Superman is vulnerable to. In Avengers: Endgame fans saw the effect that Scarlet Witch's magic can have on even the mad titan Thanos.

Dr. Fate has a huge array of powers including super strength, illusion casting, telepathy, teleporting and in some instances, time-travel. One illusion of Peggy Carter would probably be enough on its own to get Steve to let his guard down long enough for Dr. Fate to win.

Win Against: Vixen

Even though Vixen's amulet allows her to summon the power of basically any animal in existence, one swift shield throw from Cap with enough strength and a direct hit on her amulet, depending on it shattering, is enough to rend Vixen powerless.

However, a definite argument could be made that if Vixen channeled the right animal with the right opportunity she could do some serious damage. Cap's combat and gymnastic abilities may be enough to hold her off long enough or take enough blows to win this battle.

Lose Against: Aquaman

Aquaman 2 Jason Momoa

All it would take is this fight to take place on a rainy day and Aquaman would be able to control the water and potentially drown or incapacitate Steve Rogers in a sphere of Water. Even if Steve managed to throw his shield with enough power to escape the sphere of water, chances are Aquaman would recover from the hit very quickly.

Aquaman's powers also involve telepathy and even though this is way more effective on marine life than humans, it would still be strong enough to weaken Cap enough for Aquaman to win.
