Captain America 3: Chadwick Boseman On Black Panther Costume & Fighting Cap

Captain America and Black Panther

The Marvel Cinematic Universe will continue its expansion in May with the third Captain America movie, Captain America: Civil War. The movie will have the biggest superhero ensemble we've seen in the MCU so far, bringing together the original Avengers – minus Thor and Hulk – the New Avengers, and new heroes, such as Black Panther (played by Chadwick Boseman) and the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland).

Black Panther will have his solo movie in 2018, just in time to join the big battle with the Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1; but before that, he will make his debut in the MCU as part of Iron Man's team in Civil War. As we saw in the trailer, Black Panther will come face to face with Captain America, which gives place to the question: can Black Panther beat the star-spangled Avenger? Chadwick Boseman believes he can.

Chadwick Boseman spoke with Entertainment Weekly Radio (Sirius XM 105) about his role in Captain America: Civil War, and although he can't share any details on the battles we will get to witness, he did his best to answer who would win a fight between Black Panther and Captain America.

"If you're talking to [Floyd] Mayweather or [Manny] Pacquiao, before Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, then Mayweather is going to say he'll win. And if you're talking to Canelo [Alvarez], before the [Miguel] Cotto fight, Canelo's gonna say he's gonna win."

Boseman opened up about Black Panther's costume, which in the comic books is made of vibranium – the same material Captain America's shield is made of. A battle between these two characters would be quite interesting to watch.

As for the comfort that came with the suit, Boseman shared that "there's a lot of comfort in the shoes" and he would feel claustrophobic in the rest of the costume. The mask he wears seems to give him very limited vision, but Boseman shared that, although it is indeed limited, he could still see enough. All in all, having a vibranium suit has its perks. As Boseman noted when discussing his character's signature threads, Black Panther's suit is not only durable, but it can also "absorb the attack of another person."

Details on how Black Panther's introduction in the conflict will happen are unknown, but hopefully we will see more of him in upcoming trailers and teasers, and as the release date comes closer, Marvel will share more details on this new hero. Truth is that Boseman is one of Marvel's wisest casting choices, with co-star Anthony Mackie stating he is the right actor to make this role a timeless one.
