The hand-to-hand fighting of Captain America: The Winter Soldier pitting Steve Rogers against Batroc the Leaper remains a high watermark for the movie series, but Marvel Comics has just made this battle between French and American muscle... a LOT more interesting. For reasons no Marvel fan will have ever suspected.
There's no chance a single viewer of Captain America: The Winter Soldier could ever forget the bout between Steve Rogers and Batroc the Leaper. Sure, they may remember the movie more for the return of Bucky Barnes, but both in its first release and on repeat viewings, seeing the man-to-man battle between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Batroc (Georges St-Pierre) is undeniably one of Captain America's best MCU fights. But the comic backstory behind their bout has potentially changed, now that the French fighter is speaking to the "allure" of a hero like Steve Rgoers. Or as he calls him, "mon capitaine."
There are sure to be plenty of Captain America fan theories out there, but Batroc's interest in Steve Rogers growing beyond typical hero/villain rivalry is a new one (that being said, could anyone really blame him?). But before we dive too deep in this new wrinkle in Batroc's backstory, we'll let fans see the surprising moment for themselves. It's been released as part of the official preview for Black Cat #6, in which the titular heroine goes on a date with Batroc, but ends up explaining her instant attraction to Spider-Man. An infatuation Batroc can relate to, having crossed paths with Captain America:
