New plot details from Captain America: New World Order get hinted at by Sam Wilson's new stealth suit. Anthony Mackie will get to lead his first Marvel Cinematic Universe solo movie with Captain America: New World Order. Mackie's Sam Wilson has mostly been a supporting player in the MCU so far, but that changed when Chris Evans' Steve Rogers messed with time in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, deciding to stay with Peggy in the past, only to return to the present-day MCU as an old man. Steve then passed on his iconic shield to Sam, indicating that the new Captain America had been chosen.Mackie's Sam Wilson then had a tumultuous road to finally becoming the new Captain America of the MCU, with the character having to face some challenges in Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series before he could finally assume the Captain America mantle. By the end of the series, Sam Wilson finally accepted the hard task of becoming Steve Rogers' successor, donning a very different hero suit from those Evans' character used, a perfect recreation of Sam's suit from the comics. However, when Mackie leads the Captain America: New World Order cast next year, he will apparently do so with a new suit.

Captain America's New MCU Costume Revealed In Set Photos

A Captain America: New World Order set photo revealed Sam Wilson's new blue suit for the movie. The choice is a major departure from the comic book-accurate depiction of the white Captain America suit donned by Sam at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Gone is the prominent white of the suit in favor of a dark blue tone, with the change making Sam Wilson's Captain America: New World Order suit looks remarkably similar to Steve Rogers' stealth suit from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The headpiece is no longer present in the suit, although Sam's new attire seems to retain the pattern of his Falcon suit.

Captain America's Suit Could Mean More Stealth Missions In New World Order

Sam Wilson Captain America New MCU Costume Comparison Steve Rogers Comics

One of Captain America: The Winter Soldier's most exciting aspects was the sequence at the start of the film, with Cap and Black Widow stealthily infiltrating a ship. Sam Wilson's new costume in Captain America: New World Order could mean that the film will be returning to that kind of story for the hero's first solo outing as Captain America. More stealth missions in Captain America: New World Order are exactly what Sam Wilson needs. The hero does not possess the powers Steve Rogers got from the Super Soldier Serum, so the MCU needs to look for a fresh angle for Sam.

Having more stealth missions in the new Captain America movie is great for Sam, as the character will get the chance to bring back a fan-favorite aspect of Evans' time as Cap while expanding on it. Besides, the MCU is undergoing its Multiverse Saga, and Captain America: New World Order bringing the franchise back to basics with a more grounded story would be perfect to help balance out Marvel's current content output. The multiverse is a wonderful storytelling device; however, it can get a bit overwhelming and even tiresome, so the new Captain America movie possibly having a more stealth approach would help keep the MCU from getting stale.

Everything We Know About Captain America: New World Order

Captain America 4 With Betty and Thunderbolt Ross

Captain America: New World Order's story is going to be bringing back some characters that have not appeared in the MCU in a long time. The film will feature the returns of The Incredible Hulk's Samuel Sterns and Betty Ross. Tim Blake Nelson's Sterns will return after transforming into the Leader, a Hulk villain from the comics who will serve as a daunting foe to the new Captain America. Liv Tyler's Betty Ross was Bruce Banner's love interest in the Hulk's only solo MCU movie, and her return could lead to a meeting with Mark Ruffalo as Hulk for the first time. Betty also connects to another major returning character.

Captain America: New World Order sees Harrison Ford join the film as the new Thunderbolt Ross actor, taking over the role from the late William Hurt. Ross has been confirmed to be the President of the United States in the film, which helps give Sam Wilson's first Captain America movie a political throughline to help balance out the more fantastical elements that come with the inclusion of what should be a somewhat Hulk-focused plot as the movie's cast suggests. Sam Wilson will have the help of a new Falcon, Joaquín Torres, played by Danny Ramirez. Falcon could certainly aid Sam in stealth missions in Captain America: New World Order.
