Before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the next incarnation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes can have a major role in Captain America: New World Order. So far, the Avengers have two confirmed appearances in the MCU’s future. Based on what was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the team will return just in time for the end of the Multiverse Saga.

Marvel’s SDCC 2022 announcements suggest that the world will have to wait several years for another Avengers team to form. According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, the gap between Avengers films represents their vision for how each saga should wrap up. Similar to how Marvel used Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame to conclude the Infinity Saga, The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars are in a position to provide an epic, wide-scale team-up for the final battles with Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). As for which characters Marvel plans to unite for these two adventures, that remains to be seen.

Regardless of who’s on Marvel’s next Avengers roster, this group actually stands a chance at coming together before Phase 6. Considering that it’s in the best interest of The Kang Dynasty’s story for Marvel to put the focus on fighting Kang, it would be better for Marvel to already have some semblance of a team in place ahead of the movie. In Infinity War, for instance, the Avengers were split up but most had existing dynamics and already knew each other, thus making it very easy for Marvel to give so much screentime to Thanos. For that reason, and to avoid having to spend half of the movie forming relationships like The Avengers was forced to do, Kang Dynasty should have a ready-made team to work with. It’ll most likely have at least a few extra characters to add to the mix, but not having to start from scratch can be a huge boon to the movie.

Why Captain America 4 Can Form Marvel's New Avengers Team

Sam Wilson as Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Of all the upcoming MCU movies between now and The Kang Dynasty, the one that’s the best fit for the formation of the new Avengers team is Captain America 4. It’s worth noting that the success of the Captain America movies proves that including the Avengers as supporting characters can certainly work for New World Order. Plus, taking this route could be an excellent way to continue Sam Wilson’s MCU story. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier already made him Captain America, so the next step in his journey could be for him to inherit another part of Steve’s legacy – specifically, his role as the Avengers leader.

Captain America 4 can be about Sam demonstrating that he has what it takes to lead Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Sam Wilson’s first solo movie assembling a new Avengers team can be a great move for Phase 5 that prevents Marvel from having to bring everyone together at the last minute in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. If so, Captain America: New World Order can introduce the team with a small-scale adventure and lay the groundwork for two massive MCU team-ups in Phase 6.
