'Captain America: Civil War' Set Images Tease Wakanda, Black Panther Fights, and More

[MILD SPOILERS for Captain America: Civil War ahead.]

Anthony and Joe Russo have officially gotten the cameras rolling on Captain America: Civil War, their second Marvel feature film (after The Winter Soldier) and the start of Phase III for Marvel's Cinematic Universe. The official cast and crew on the project have already been announced, so it was only a matter of time before photos showing them on set leaked online.

The Civil War storyline revolves around a government effort to more strictly regulate the actions of not just Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), and their current Avengers squad - but ALL Earth-based superheroes in the MCU. Hence, this movie serves as the entry point for T'Challa/Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), following Earth's Mightiest having learned about his homeland - the African nation of Wakanda - in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution has posted images from the Civil War set in Atlanta, showing what appears to be a historical version of London - complete with period settings (vintage automobiles, etc.), double-decker buses, and an Irish pub that's been turned into an English pub - for, reportedly, a flashback sequence in the film. Additional images from the Civil War shoot in Atlanta (hat tip CBM) show set pieces for what is almost certainly a smaller Wakanda village, just outside the more urbanized regions of the country, similar to Johannesburg (where the Hulk/Hulkbuster fight took place in Age of Ultron).

Civil War will, in addition to kicking off Phase III of the MCU, continue to develop plot threads from the previous Captain America movies. It's possible, then, that this England flashback sequence will involve Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), providing more details about his dark deeds back when he was The Winter Soldier. Alternatively, as has often been the case with MCU flashbacks, the scene here could involve Peggy Carter (Hayley Attwell), who is expected to next pop up onscreen alongside the younger Hank Pym (played as an older man by Michael Douglas) in this summer's Ant-Man.

Speaking of Peggy - leaked images and videos showing a funeral scene being filmed in Civil War's present-day setting - attended by the likes of Steve Rogers and Sharon Carter/Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) - have already fueled speculation that it's the elderly Peggy's passing that's being mourned here. There are certainly other possibilities, but for the time being the wake in question is most likely for (the original) Agent Carter.

We've embedded one such image, below. For additional photos/videos from the Civil War funeral scene being filmed, GO HERE.

Today we have been bustling with excitement at work as they film the next Captain America 3: Civil War Marvel movie at our church neighbors building. It's been fun hanging out with the extras in between takes since we are their craft services, wardrobe, hair and makeup location. Another new Instagram video taken from the Civil War set shows what appears to be Boseman's Black Panther stunt-double, rehearsing a fight sequence of sorts. Coincidentally, the latest Civil War rumor from Umberto Gonzalez a.k.a. El Maimbe is that T'Challa and Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) will have a "huge fight" in the movie.

We may find out if there's any truth to this particular rumor before some official Civil War footage is released, should set photos with Boseman and Renner exchanging blows leak online first.

HOT RUMOR! In #CAPTAINAMERICA #CIVILWAR, #Hawkeye has a huge fight against #BlackPanther! Who do you have as the winner? I got T'Challa because as Wesley Snipes once famously said, "Always bet on black!" #MarvelStudios #MARVEL #marvelcomics #MCU

This Black Panther/Hawkeye fight rumor does raise questions about which side of the "Civil War" these respective superheroes will fall on - that led by Steve Rogers or the one headed by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) - in the film. Indeed, beyond Cap and Iron Man, it's not clear yet where any Avengers or superheroes will fall, with respect to the idealogical schism within their community.

Many fans have already begun speculating that Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will play the role that Spider-Man - who may yet make his MCU debut during Civil War - takes on in the Civil War comic book storyline, by serving as the middle-man for the superhero community divide (seeing as that he has a daughter and whatnot). Lang would also be established by that point, so it could make more sense for him to serve that role; instead of, say, having newcomer T'Challa play that part in the MCU Civil War.

Besides, if Black Panther's getting in a fisticuffs match with Hawkeye, chances are he's not exactly that concerned with peace at the moment.
