A new look at the DC Comics villain King Shark has emerged from depths on an artist's official Instagram account after the cancellation of an alleged Batman game. Despite this title being thrown to the side, DC fans have had a lot to enjoy in recent weeks. The newly-announced Gotham Knights, in particular, is sure to scratch the caped crusader itch that gamers have had since the last core Batman title released in 2015. Even then, WB Games has been hard at work on several other projects based on its in-house comic book franchises.

DC baddies are set to get their due in a new game called Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, while Joker has appeared in Mortal Kombat 11. Even then, it's understandable that gamers want more on current and next-gen consoles. Some may even say they're chomping at the bit, which is a rather appropriate means of describing the excitement that could have been for a now-scrapped Batman project and one seriously scary antagonist.

Taking to Instagram, a former concept artist working on a shuttered Batman title, Jerad Marantz, has shared some art he created for the game – one of which includes the infamous King Shark. Screen Rant previously reported on a Flashpoint Batman design that Marantz posted on his public Twitter account before he later clarified that it was created for use in a game that will never see the light of day. Truth be told, that may be for the best. Not because the design for King Shark is bad, but rather that this version of the character would have been a terrifying sight to behold as he presumably pursued the player-controlled Batman.

While gamers may never get to see this version of KS in action, there are plenty of opportunities for fans of the land-dwelling fish person to witness the character grab some much-deserved limelight. For example, King Shark is a playable character in the aforementioned Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game. In this project, he looks to be quite menacing, but his design is a little more approachable for those first becoming acquainted with the Street Shark wannabe.

Even if a DC fan isn't a particularly large gamer, King Shark is set to have a prominent role in the forthcoming The Suicide Squad live-action film. Of course, whether or not he'll survive that film remains to be seen. But odds are that he'll at least have some memorable moments as he eats anything and anyone that stands in his way.
