For a television show to last, it definitely needs to be well-written. However, that honestly sometimes is not enough, as if a show lacks a large audience, it often is canceled, no matter how great it is. This was seen last year via Netflix, when it canceled Tuca & Bertie just a few months after its release because of its lack of views. However, it would later become immensely popular and thankfully has now been picked up by Adult Swim.

Yet, second chances after cancellations are quite the rarity. Therefore, there have been an array of spectacular comedies that would never get their second season, even though they provided some absolutely stellar material. Overall, these shows ultimately deserved so much better.

Undeclared

Undeclared was only able to last one season, but it was quite spectacular in its short run. Created by the legendary Judd Apatow, this sitcom followed the first year of dorky college student, Steven Karp, who was portrayed by Jay Baruchel.

Other notable actors on the show were Seth Rogen and Jason Segel, so it did have a pretty solid cast of actors. This is an easy show to access today as well, as every episode is currently on YouTube for free. Comedy lovers should take advantage of this, as the show is a hidden gem.

Clone High

The main characters from the MTV show Clone High

As years go by, Clone High has really begun to hit legendary levels of popularity among its viewers. It is still hard to believe that this series would only last for one season, as it clearly had all the makings of being a long-running show.

However, even with it ending prematurely, viewers should be thankful that it was even made at all. This was a truly unique cartoon, especially for the time period in which it was released. History-lovers should put this show on their must-watch list if they have yet to see it, as it makes a plethora of historical references. Thankfully, a reboot is on the horizon after so many years.

Grandfathered

When Grandfathered was first announced, there seemed to be a lot of interest, as it starred both John Stamos and Josh Peck. However, once it hit the air, viewers simply did not tune in enough for it to obtain a second season.

Yet, this show was actually quite solid, as it did a very good job of meshing comedy with strong family moments. Following the progression of Stamos' character, Jimmy, was very fascinating, as he truly did mature in the limited amount of episodes released. It would have been nice to see his story continue.

Everything Sucks!

Many fans felt that Netflix messed up immensely when they canceled Everything Sucks! so quickly. Although the views did not come in during the opening months of the show, it has since blossomed in popularity, and those who have seen it have nothing but positive things to say about it.

Therefore, it surely is justifiable to state that this series warranted a second season. It did a marvelous job of portraying the vast number of complex situations that teenagers face during their high school years, while also having a plethora of comedic moments.

The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale

Although he is mostly remembered as Jeff on Community, Joel McHale also would have a very funny talk show on Netflix: The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale. This comedy show was unique for the streaming service, as it released episodes weekly, instead of all at once.

This ultimately may have been the downfall of the series, as although its content was absolutely hysterical, it simply did not gain enough attention from viewers. It is another hidden gem from Netflix that people should watch, as McHale is stellar with his comedy in it.

Disjointed

Sure, it was not perfect, but it was strange to see Disjointed not renewed for a second season. It definitely seemed like a show that had more of a story to be told, but it simply did not gain the popularity that it was expected to.

This was a Chuck Lorre show, so it definitely had more potential to improve its episodes. Overall, it certainly had a lot of funny moments and was well-written. It would be a good show to consider starting at this time, as it is pretty carefree, but also entertaining.

The Good Cop

It is apparent that The Good Cop deserved a second season, as it was clever in its writing and overall very funny. It also did a very good job with its dramatic elements too, so it offered the best of both worlds for its viewers.

This was another show that fell victim to the fact that it was generally unknown to the public, which was a shame, as leading men Tony Danza and Josh Groban were nothing short of spectacular in their roles.

The Grinder

Back in 2015, The Grinder was released, much to the satisfaction of its viewers. Yet, although it would receive wonderful reviews from critics, it did not garner enough views compared to other Fox shows. Thus, it would be wrongfully canceled after one season.

Rob Lowe and Fred Savage were outstanding in the show, which makes it even stranger as to why it would end up being pulled so quickly. The overall plot was rather unique, as Lowe's character believed that he could be a lawyer after playing one on television, which of course, was definitely not the case.

The Big Show Show

The Big Show has been a professional wrestler for over 25 years, but he tried acting with his own sitcom, The Big Show Show. Overall, one has to admire what he was able to accomplish, as he did a great job with it, especially when it came to physical comedy.

The premise of the show may have hurt its chances of being renewed, as it was a bit too similar to the typical sitcoms that have been seen for many years. However, it would have been nice to see this series continue, as The Big Show certainly was funny.

Freaks And Geeks

There is no show in the world that deserved a second season more than Freaks And Geeks. However, viewers were barely even aware of it when it first came out because of how many time changes it would go through. It was a burden trying to follow it, which truly was a shame.

However, it has since grown in popularity immensely, while its elite cast of lead actors have all been able to build themselves marvelous careers. The comedy in the show is solid, as well. Overall, it is the perfect high school comedy-drama and every TV fan needs to watch it.
