New 'Call of Duty' Zombies Trailer: Bill Paxton vs. Undead John Malkovich

Activision's massively popular first-person shooter Call of Duty has now been around for more than a decade. It first started out on PC in 2003, before branching to the Mac OS X, Xbox, Playstation, and Wii systems in the subsequent sequels and various offshoots. And from its original setting of World War II, the game also moved on to modern times, the future, and eventually even a world filled with zombies.

The special zombies mode - last seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops I and II - will be back this fall in Call of Duty: Black Ops III. But that's not the only place to get your zombie fill, as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has just released their last downloadable content pack for Xbox Live users. Titled Reckoning, the DLC comes with four multiplayer maps and one special Exo Zombies co-op map, which is previewed in the trailer above.

The Fracture, Overload, Quarantine, and Swarm will take users to the Arctic, the Middle East, an island, and a suburb in Korea, but new multiplayer map Descent finally ends the long-running Exo Zombies story. Lennox (Bruce Campbell), Lilith Swann (Rose McGowan), Jim Decker (Jon Bernthal) and Kahn (Bill Paxton) all return as playable characters in the map.

In the events of the story, the group will travel to a deep underwater base where new enemies with enhanced abilities await, including their old friend Oz (John Malkovich) — who, as seen in the trailer, has undergone a bit of a change. Along the way, the four heroes will also wield the powerful Trident Reflected Energy Weapon and unravel the terrible secret that Atlas Corporation has been hiding, while attempting to stop the source of the infection once and for all.

Descent may not be the last zombie mode within the Call of Duty series, but it is the final part in the story that was told over the RiotOutbreakInfection, and Carrier maps. It's also the end of an era in another way: The Reckoning DLC marks the passing of the torch from Advanced Warfare developer Sledgehammer Games to Black Ops III developer Treyarch in November.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warefare - Reckoning is now available on Xbox Live, with other platforms to follow. Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be released worldwide on November 6th, 2015.
