Update: Rewatch the event up top - text below updated with announcements and new info.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases this October for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One but this year the annual shooter franchise is taking a step in a different direction. Reports claim that developer Treyarch's fourth entry in the top-selling Black Ops series may be making a few major changes to the Call of Duty formula and you can rewatch the event live, right here.

For the first time ever, Call of Duty will not have a traditional single-player story campaign - a key feature Activision previously stated in years past was a core component for a large section of the player base. Despite COD's obvious popularity and longevity in multiplayer - and a massive pro league esports scene - its polished blockbuster action campaigns are where Call of Duty saw celebrities play key characters and where many players learned the weapons and controls before jumping into PvP multiplayer or zombies co-op.

In 2018 however, in an era where the shooter genre has evolved into larger-scale battle royale modes, survival experiences, or more tactical and dynamic gameplay, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is following suit.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 features a battle royale mode called "Blackout" but we do not know how many players and what unique features will it offer, even after interviewing devs from the Treyarch team. We do know there's no story campaign but there's an effort being made to weave more narrative into the multiplayer suite. The previously-confirmed zombies campaign will also bigger and better too.
