Industry insider Tom Henderson reports that a future Call of Duty: Warzone crossover could feature monster movie icons Godzilla and King Kong. Should Henderson's claims prove accurate, this wouldn't mark the first time that Warzone has added film characters to its in-game mayhem. A mid-season update in May 2021 added Rambo and Die Hard's John McClane to Warzone, for example.

Notably, the Rambo and John McClane content launched as part of an 80s Action Heroes event that introduced the two heroes as playable Legendary Operators. Players who unlocked Rambo were given access to two finishing moves and three Legendary Weapon Blueprints; meanwhile, McClane entered the mix with one finisher and three blueprints of his own. Call of Duty: Warzone's Verdansk map even received a few movie-themed Points of Interest during the event, including Nakatomi Plaza from Die Hard and various survival camps inspired by Rambo: First Blood Part II. Now it seems a couple of other major movie franchises will eventually receive the Warzone treatment.

Notable leaker Tom Henderson wrote in an Xfire post that King Kong and Godzilla may hit the battlefield in the ever-popular Call of Duty: Warzone sometime this year. He originally obtained the information from a Twitter user who has since deactivated their account. However, corroboration from other sources in the form of King Kong and Godzilla-centric concept art leads the insider to believe the claims could bear some semblance of truth. According to Henderson, one piece of artwork shows Kong swatting at World War II planes. The other image depicts the King of Monsters destroying ground troops with his atomic beams. That these conceptual art pieces were featured alongside stills for Warzone Season 2 especially caused Henderson's ears to perk up.

Why such artwork would exist if these two titans weren't coming to Warzone remains unknown, yet one source speaking to Henderson posited King Kong and Godzilla may have featured as part of a Jurassic World Dominion pitch for a possible summertime collaboration. In terms of Call of Duty: Warzone crossovers, this all sounds a little farfetched. Still, it's worth remembering that Warzone as a persistent Call of Duty experience needs to continuously produce new and exciting content. It doesn't get much more exciting than the two aforementioned monster movie icons.

Apparently, Activision's future plans for Warzone extend far beyond that of alleged crossover events. Earlier this year, uncorroborated reports claimed the pubisher had already entered development on a Warzone sequel for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware. Tom Henderson later hinted that this supposed follow-up entry could launch alongside Modern Warfare 2.
