Zombies have yet again been teased to be invading Call Of Duty: Warzone. This is not the first time that the undead have risen in Activision's free-to-play battle royale. It's also not the first instance of teased zombies coming to the battle royale mode, but it IS one of the first teases that has been given by Activision itself.

Call Of Duty: Warzone was released in March of 2020 and it did not take long to become a smash hit. In its first few months it achieved roughly 75 million concurrent players and that number has not dipped by much since. The game receives regular updates in the form of battle passes, limited time modes, and small-scale map changes, which have kept players coming back over and over again in an attempt to achieve victory. The first instance of zombies in Verdansk was in October of 2020 during the Haunting Of Verdansk update. For a short amount of time, whenever a player perished in the game they would become a zombie and hunt other players instead of heading to the gulag. More recently, leaks of voice lines pertaining to a larger undead update have added to the already large pool of leaks that have cropped up surrounding the game in recent weeks.

In a tweet posted on the official Call Of Duty account, a fictional news broadcast reports that zombies have in fact arrived in Verdansk via the Shipwreck location on the southern portion of the map. This map change was already widespread knowledge at the beginning of the Season 2 update last week, which also brought with it a limited time Outbreak mode that added a new zombies mode as well as exclusive challenges for both Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. The broadcast ends with the reporter's helicopter being shot down and the anchor losing contact.

The anchor of the broadcast then goes on to mention that this story is developing and that viewers should be sure and stick with the fictional network in order to receive updates on the ongoing zombie situation. Along with leaks indicating that a large scale undead invasion of Warzone is on the way, yet another instance of leaks indicate that this event could end with a nuclear attack that will destroy the area of Verdansk. Many speculate that this will lead to a new map for the free mode. as there has only been one map for the game since its release.

Call Of Duty: Warzone boasts a massive player base but it has had its fair share of issues. The game experiences ongoing problems with balancing weapons within the game as well as glitches that allow players to outlast each other such as infinite stims, operator skins that make players invisible, as well as a glitch that allow players to see through walls.  Activision responds quickly to these fixes but many players show their concern that it seems like there is always something to fix within the game.

Despite these issues, Activision continues with its fast paced release model of seasons and battle passes. These updates are sure to inevitably lead to Call Of Duty 2021's announcement and marketing campaign, prior to its release in November. No official statement has been made about the annual release of the next installment in the historic franchise but it is doubtful that Activision plans on adjusting the sales strategy that it has used for over a decade.
