It seems that Call of Duty: Warzone will finally be adding private matches, a long-requested feature, before long. The multiplayer component of Modern Warfare already supports the feature, which lets users create lobbies only accessible to players they invite.

Even without private lobbies, Warzone has been making a lot of changes lately. Call of Duty Season 6 rolled out a new subway system for the battle royale, along with two new Operators pulled from the Modern Warfare campaign. As with previous seasons, it also introduced lots of smaller tweaks and additions, like finally nerfing weapons that players have been complaining are overpowered and shattering the game mode’s balance.

Now, it looks like one more requested feature could be coming to the game soon. As Modern Warzone reports, two players have already been able to access private matches in Call of Duty: Warzone through a glitch. According to the site, Detectivewaffle and GlitchHunterz on Twitter were able to not only get into the private lobby menu in Warzone, but also launch into the custom match. As is the case with other multiplayer games, private matches in Warzone will reportedly allow the hosts to adjust the game’s settings, changing players’ health and life pool, deciding whether revives will be allowed, and switching up other options to make the game play exactly how they want it to. There’s no word on when private matches might show up in Warzone, and neither Infinity Ward nor Activision has actually announced that they’re coming, but having the feature already accessible in the game could mean that it’s not far off.

Playing in private matches won’t allow players to level up or earn the rewards that they would get from a standard game, but they do have their uses. Multiplayer game tournaments are fond of private lobbies because they allow organizers to fine-tune the experience for a specific event. Players can also use them if they want to play with just a group of friends, or to practice and get familiar with the game’s map. While having the ability to play private matches wouldn’t replace the traditional Warzone mode, it would be a welcome addition for many players.

Of course, it’s possible that the private match option has been hidden in Call of Duty: Warzone for a while now and it’s still undergoing testing. Given how popular private matches are in other games, and how often fans request it, it seems more likely than not that the mode is getting ready for an eventual reveal, perhaps even when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War begins adding content to the battle royale.
