Infinity Ward has confirmed character Ghost and possibly the map Rust will be returning in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2. Both of these additions are fan-favorites from the Modern Warfare series, and fans will be excited to get to revisit them. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Season 2 will begin on February 11 of 2020.

The first season of  Modern Warfare brought significant changes to the game. There were re-imagined versions of old multiplayer maps which were added in, like Shipment and Vacant, with Vacant in particular being an interesting addition, as it is one of the smallest maps in the entirety of the Call of Duty series, and therefore made for very fast paced and intense games. Another big addition was the new game mode Cranked, which tasks players with getting kills within a certain time frame or they explode. There were also new characters, holiday specials, and cosmetics that players were given access to.

As first reported by DualShockers, the official Call of Duty Twitter page has confirmed the fan-favorite character Ghost, and possibly Rust, are coming to Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The company posted a video on Twitter, embedded below, which shows Ghost's face and name before announcing Season 2 is coming out on the 11th. Ghost will be coming to the game as one of the game's operators in the Spec-Ops mode. The Rust confirmation is a little more shaky, as there only a few blurry screenshots that could be of the map. While it wasn't 100% proven, the fan consensus seems to be that Rust will be coming soon.

Both of these additions would be a big deal for fans considering how wildly beloved they are to the Call of Duty community. Ghost is one of the most famous characters from Modern Warfare 2, and his death scene at the end of the game was horrific to watch. Most likely because of his death, fans latched on to the character and have mourned for him ever since. Rust, on the other hand, has a slightly complicated fan history. While most fans look back on it fondly and enjoyed playing it, it was spurned by the more competitive side of the community. Rust was so small and open that it was near impossible not to die a ridiculous amount of times. This inspired hatred from more hardcore gamers, but others loved the fast and intense action.

Ghost and Rust being added into Season 2 of Modern Warfare would be a nice hit of nostalgia for Call of Duty players. Many fans have fond memories of staying up late with a group of friends on Rust or encountering the skull-faced Ghost for the very first time. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is already the most played Call of Duty of this generation, and adding in these old fan favorites could surely cement that achievement.
