Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has extended season one of its' multiplayer for a few more weeks. The newest entry in the first-person shooter series released on October 25th, 2019. There was a lot of trepidation before the game released in regards to its mature subject matter and the fact that it was a reboot of a beloved entry in the franchise. Despite this, Modern Warfare received very positive reviews and became the most-played Call of Duty game of this console generation.

The Call of Duty franchise started out in 2003, and the first few games were centered around World War 2. As the series has progressed the time periods have ranged from the Cold War, modern day, and the future. There have currently been four games in the Modern Warfare series with the newest title being a soft reboot of the original game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

PC Gamer reports that Infinity Ward will be extending season one of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's multiplayer until February 11th. This first season has introduced all manner of activities and rewards for players since it launched in December. Apparently this extension was done to make room for even more content for players. There will be brand new challenges, items, and game modes for players to engage in. This will also give players a chance to try to complete a certain in-game challenge and acquire the new crossbow weapon.

Call of Duty featured

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was developed by Infinity Ward, who have worked on all of the Modern Warfare games. The game is set during modern times and in the main story the CIA and British SAS  are working together to fight against Russian forces. This game brings back fan favorite character John Price as well. Several multiplayer modes have returned, but there are several new ones like Ground War and Gunfight. Instead of the game having a Zombies mode there is instead a Special Ops game mode.

The Call of Duty franchise has become a staple of the video gaming industry. Despite the flaws of the franchise there are very few AAA multiplayer shooters that can compete with it. Titles like Battlefield and Medal of Honor have tried, but it consistently seems as though Call of Duty will remain the reigning champion. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been touted as possibly the best game in the entire series, whereas others think it is just decent. Nevertheless, fans may appreciate those extra weeks with season one.
