As a result of ongoing Black Lives Matter protests across America, the previously planned reveal of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’s fourth DLC season has been delayed. The chilling murder of George Floyd at the hands of a group of Minneapolis police officers has sparked these demonstrations across the nation over the past few days, and while some celebrities have not held the best intentions, the majority of people involved are focused around combating racial inequality and holding more accountability for law enforcers.

Most of the video game industry has stood by the peaceful protests, with companies like Square Enix showing their support for the movements behind them on social media and a number of planned events being delayed to keep the focus on the demonstrations. This includes Thursday’s planned unveiling of the PlayStation 5, which Sony had recently decided to indefinitely postpone in order to allow the important message of the protesters to be heard.

Now Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Season Four has been held back as well. The reveal of both the upcoming Modern Warfare DLC season and a number of other Call Of Duty-based announcements was previously scheduled to be held on the same day as the PS5 unveiling, but a recent post on the game’s official Twitter account a couple of days ago reveals that it is now not to be. According to this post, all Call Of Duty-related events planned for Thursday have been put on hold in a show of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter protests.

Prior to this delay, a previously released trailer for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Season Four hinted at the return of iconic series mainstay Captain Price as an Operator alongside the addition of the highly-anticipated Kriss Vector submachine gun and a number of other features. In preparation for this expansion, Activision released a massive update patch for Modern Warfare a couple of weeks ago, which hinted at the large scope of the now-delayed DLC.

While it might be disappointing for fans to have to wait a bit longer for their first look at the upcoming Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Season Four content, this decision to delay the reveal was for the best. There are currently far more important things going on in the world, and America in particular, than a trailer for a new DLC expansion, and proceeding with the unveiling as scheduled while people are risking their health and well-being by speaking out against injustice might have been seen as crass. Hopefully by the time the new Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Season Four is revealed, things will have changed for the better when it comes to equality and law enforcement.
