A newly discovered glitch in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare makes the game playable in third-person, and players are requesting that it be made into an official mode. The Call of Duty series has dabbled with third-person modes over the years, most recently in Call of Duty Mobile and its battle royale mode.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has had repeated issues with bugs, exploits, and hacking throughout most of its time on the market. The problems have extended to Call of Duty: Warzone, which is the game's relatively new battle royale offering. Hackers on PC have been running rampant for months, using the game's crossplay feature to invade matches on console as well. The cheating had been getting worse and worse until Infinity Ward finally started cracking down on cheaters. There have also been exploitable bugs that can turn players invincible, as well as some which generate infinite ammo, and more. While most of these Call of Duty: Warzone glitches range from annoying to game-breaking, some of them have been fun, harmless, and intriguing for players who have gotten them to work.

U/Tkade14 on Reddit is one of those players, as they recently discovered a glitch that changes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to a third-person perspective. While playing the game's survival mode, u/Tkade14 was apparently downed when a teammate tried to revive them and the camera suddenly shifted. The footage shows that gameplay was mostly unimpaired by this, and u/Tkade14 sprinted around with a knife to kill a number of enemies, since the aiming reticle was no longer visible.

Other users have responded saying they've experienced the glitch as well, and are providing tips on how to replicate it. The most reliable method seems to be teaming up with a friend in survival mode, allowing that friend to get downed, and then having them quit the game as you try to revive them. Many fans are also petitioning the developers to add a real third-person mode to the game for multiplayer playlists and Call of Duty: Warzone.

A third-person mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would certainly be an interesting new way to play the game, but there's an argument against it too. Third-person players would arguably have an advantage over first-person players due to their increased environmental awareness. While the trade-off would be quicker aiming and accuracy for first-person players, a third-person mode would likely cause balance problems unless it had its own separate lobbies or was relegated to the cooperative modes. If they could keep them separate, however, it looks like a really fun way to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
