Zack Snyder reveals that Superman (Henry Cavill) was projected through Batman (Ben Affleck) eyes at the beginning of their fight in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The 2016 movie was Warner Bros.' first major step towards building the DCEU after they kicked it off with 2013's Man of Steel. The prospect of seeing two of the most iconic superheroes on the big screen together excited so many fans, but while it was a smash hit at the box office, it garnered a divisive response from the public.

It's no secret that Batman V Superman was one of the most polarizing films in recent memory. While some fans praised Snyder's unique take on two popular characters, others weren't exactly thrilled with several of his creative choices. Behind-the-scenes production and the subsequent public response affected what the DCEU looked like past it. Now, Snyder is revisiting his Warner Bros. superhero movie four years after it rolled out in theaters, revealing new insights to his thought process while filming the movie.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic that has left the Hollywood paralyzed, watch parties have been the normal nowadays. Between that and Batman V Superman's anniversary, Snyder hosted an event with live commentary. This allowed him to provide additional context to some for the movie's biggest moments, including the brutal fight between the two lead characters. The filmmaker also revealed that at one point during the beginning of the brawl, Superman is shown from Batman's perspective, hence why the Man of Steel suddenly looked more ruthless and dangerous.

With the additional insight from Snyder, this has become much easier to decipher. The whole fight sequence was so intense and dramatic that subtle details like this could've slipped through a lot of people's radars. Looking at it now, this makes sense considering that Clark Kent was even appealing to Bruce's humanity at the beginning of their one-on-one - hoping to reach out to his humanity and make him understand what's really going on. Shortly after when they landed on the rooftop, Clark is back to this approach by telling his adversary that if he truly wanted to kill him, Batman would've already been dead.

Recently, Affleck has been vocal about his experience in the DCEU. The actor has exited the franchise leading to Robert Pattinson taking over the cowl and the cape. He says that he definitely enjoyed working on Batman V Superman than Justice League, which was more plagued with issues including a last-minute director switch to Joss Whedon. Cavill, on the other hand, doesn't seem to look back at 2016 film with the same fondness, saying that he felt like it was a Batman film more than anything else.

With Snyder's first watch party for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice such a big hit, it's curious if he'll do the same for his other projects - perhaps even Justice League. This may give some fans an idea that instead of pushing Warner Bros. to release the ensemble film's Snyder Cut, the filmmaker should just blatantly talk about his original plan for the movie while hosting a similar event for it.
