Yesterday we reported that Andy Serkis has replaced David Tennant in the upcoming remake of Burke And Hare. Now we have two more new cast members confirmed for the production.
Ilsa Fischer and Tom Wilkinson have both joined Burke And Hare; the film is based on the true story of two Nineteenth Century cads who murdered and robbed graves to provide Edinburgh medical fraternity with fresh cadavers for study.
Star Trek star Simon Pegg and Serkis are playing the titular characters of William Burke and William Hare, respectively.
According to Heat Vision Blog, Fisher will play Burke's girlfriend, "an actress looking for a patron who might or might not be an accomplice to the murders." Wilkinson will be playing Dr. Robert Knox, an anatomy lecturer who is in the market for fresh corpses.
The film is being helmed by John Landis (An American Werewolf in London) from a script written by Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft. Production starts at the end of the month in Edinburgh and London. The film will be a black comedy.
I'd never really heard much about this film (or the story it's based on) before now, but if this cast keeps shaping up the way it is now, I'll definitely be looking forward to it. Plus, John Landis returning to the director's chair after a long hiatus is nothing to sneeze at.
Burke & Hare is slated for release (in the UK at least) sometime in late 2010.
